Holy shit, you're almost too stupid to insult. The burden of proof is on you because you haven't given me any good reason why the protagonist needs to be a boy.
Yep, you're a special kind of stupid alright. You haven't given one single good reason why a male protagonist would make for a better story.
Wow, you're a special kind of stupid aren't you? How would it serve the story better to make the protagonist a boy?
There was no artistic purpose to making him a wookiee. It was clearly just PC inspired casting to pander to furries. The SJW social agenda wants to force these kinds of characters into kids' movies of all things. Just another example of how liberals are destroying our culture.
You keep repeating "there's no reason she needed to be a girl." My answer is the same: there's no reason she needed to be a boy either. Rey is a poorly written character as she is portrayed in these movies, but that's the result of bad writing, not because she's a girl.
GL's original plan for the ST had Luke training a new young female Jedi. The idea actually originated with him. The ST has a lot of things wrong with it, but the protagonist's gender isn't one of them.
Lol! Your saltiness is almost as hilarious as the fact that you know so little about Star Wars. http://www.cracked.com/blog/4-pop-culture-icons-who-were-originally-meant-to-be-women/
She didn't need to be a girl any more than Luke needed to be a boy. She just is.
You nailed it. Rain Johnson relies much more on telling than showing.
I'm sick of the assumption that only men hate TLJ. Here's a better analysis of why it's not as progressive as it seems. http://scavengersholocron.com/category/home/why-the-last-jedi-isnt-just-bad-its-toxic/
Those aren't even remotely close to being apt comparisons. Autism does not impair one's ability to have a vast array of medical knowledge. In fact, it may help, as it does in Shaun's case.
I love Pearl. So far she has had the most complex and realistic arc of all the gems. Plus, I've always had a soft spot for uptight and nerdy characters.
Too bad they couldn't make Belle three dimensional. It's pretty pathetic when your lead actress is so bland that the villain's sidekick steals the spotlight.
What's wrong with Elsa?
Hmmm let's see...
Belle - Makes sacrifices to save her father
Anna - Makes sacrifices to save her sister
Mulan - Save the entire fucking nation of China
So no, Moana is not the first of that kind.
I liked Evermore, but I felt like its placement threw off the pacing of the movie. The other two were alright.
All of the themes you mentioned were already present in the 1991 version. Maybe it's your complaints that are shallow and superficial.
Islands was fantastic. Looking forward to Elements.
That's probably the most annoying aspect of this remake. In the live-action version, Gaston actually compliments the book Belle is reading instead of disparaging it. Honestly, Belle comes off as a snob in this version.
