Holy shit, you're almost too stupid to insult. The burden of proof is on you because you haven't given me any good reason why the protagonist needs to be a boy. Yep, you're a special kind of stupid alright. You haven't given one single good reason why a male protagonist would make for a better story. Wow, you're a special kind of stupid aren't you? How would it serve the story better to make the protagonist a boy? There was no artistic purpose to making him a wookiee. It was clearly just PC inspired casting to pander to furries. The SJW social agenda wants to force these kinds of characters into kids' movies of all things. Just another example of how liberals are destroying our culture. You keep repeating "there's no reason she needed to be a girl." My answer is the same: there's no reason she needed to be a boy either. Rey is a poorly written character as she is portrayed in these movies, but that's the result of bad writing, not because she's a girl. GL's original plan for the ST had Luke training a new young female Jedi. The idea actually originated with him. The ST has a lot of things wrong with it, but the protagonist's gender isn't one of them. Lol! Your saltiness is almost as hilarious as the fact that you know so little about Star Wars. http://www.cracked.com/blog/4-pop-culture-icons-who-were-originally-meant-to-be-women/ She didn't need to be a girl any more than Luke needed to be a boy. She just is. You nailed it. Rain Johnson relies much more on telling than showing. I'm sick of the assumption that only men hate TLJ. Here's a better analysis of why it's not as progressive as it seems.
