I'm afraid that a shift from adventure to action/horror would result in more non-animal behavior of the dinosaurs. There's a good chance they'd become dino-slashers. Much like how they turned the spinosaurus in JP3 into a stalking monster. Even the t-rex in the novel (which was more horror-based) showed some weird stalker/slasher behaviour.
I'd rather have a little more dialogue in this movie. Maybe more emphasis on the fact that this park was doomed to fail regardless of Nedry's sabotage.
Who did you think was miscast?

Yeah, you might be right there. Could be for artistic or commercial reasons. They do use the tagline "The ultimate in alien terror" on one of the movie posters. So they're not completely ignoring it.

Yeah, I was expecting Chidi to speak French when Eleanor walked into his office (even though he already spoke English in the videolectures, but maybe it was dubbed). Instead of learning ethics, she needs to learn French first xD
Maybe they are still dead and the "real/living world" is another fake experimental place created by Michael/Janet/The Judge. Therefore Chidi could still speak English fluently. Or maybe the world is real but it's not the real Chidi and Chidi is still in Africa.
