Context. Nearly everyone knows enough Spanish/French/German words to get the gist of the one line or two spoken without subtitles. Typically, that is done because the protagonist (at the time) doesn't speak that language and he/she needs to wait until another character reveals what is being said or about to happen.
Agreed. TWD has jumped the shark.
Terrible. He hasn't bathed in weeks.
I always thought it was a "take" on the genre. It wasn't meant to be taken seriously.
I don't know of anyone who voted against her just because she was a woman, but I know plenty who voted for her just because she was. The people I know who voted against her thought she was corrupt and elitist. The people I know who voted for her would have done so even if they had footage of her strangling babies in the street.
I voted for Gary Johnson, even though I knew he couldn't win. He was far from a perfect candidate, and I think he would have been blockaded on both sides, but I couldn't vote for either "mainstream" candidate in good conscience. I thought Trump was too much of a loose cannon and Clinton was WAY too much of a crook.
The problem with that is that 3-4 cities in the country can elect the president. No one else's opinion will matter. The electoral college is the only way less populated (rural) areas can be heard.
It's hard to vote when your choices are extremely liberal or extremely conservative. The press wants blood. A soft-spoken moderate of either party can't be heard over the sensationalist spew from the media.
I doubt it. I thought for sure she would win. She was/is a morally (and otherwise) corrupt and despicable person, but people supported the idea of her (her gender, her party, something?) even if they didn't actually like her. I was really shocked. All that being said, I think her train ran out of steam. 2016 was hers to win and she blew it. The DNC will need to pull out someone younger and trendier to win in 2020. It will need to be style over substance, like with Obama.
It's always after midnight.
Thanks for the heads up! I had forgotten about that . . . as I sit here with my kids. I think it's bed time.
I'd like to have a way to see a list of who I've ignored and then opt to un-ignore them if I choose.
I think the creators and the network clashed on that a lot. The creators wanted a better view of humanity's future, which included more equality, while the network just wanted ratings.
Today, we think of Spock as this deep character with a rich back story, but in the early episodes he had just been created. They were still figuring out what they wanted to do with the character.
I can't imagine the police/DA framing a celebrity like OJ. It seems like it would be really hard to make that work unless it was airtight.
It would be more plausible for them to frame a random person, who would likely be homeless and black.
On the other hand, if they really thought it was OJ, then they'd go after OJ. That doesn't mean they were right, but I do think they believed they were right.
I don't think I'd go that far . . .
I'm sure they had a non-vegetarian lunch.
Nice
What we learned from "Mad Max" (and "Saw") is that the chain is hardened and the saw won't cut through.
Maybe the actress didn't speak English.
