http://forum.dvdtalk.com/13083213-post5.html Spielberg himself got the whole ball rolling on the "Hooper didn't direct Poltergeist story". While being interviewed, Spielberg was quoted as saying Hooper's wasn't "very hands-on" as a director, and that he, Spielberg, did a lot of the work. This got Spielberg an angry rebuke from the director's guild, and Spielberg had to publish a real kiss-ass, apology letter to Hooper. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guardians_of_the_Galaxy_(1969_team)#In_other_media Various members of the original Guardians of the Galaxy team are featured in the film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, including Michael Rooker as Yondu Udonta, Sylvester Stallone as Stakar Ogord, Michael Rosenbaum as Martinex T'Naga, Ving Rhames as Charlie-27, Michelle Yeoh as Aleta Ogord, Krugarr and an uncredited Miley Cyrus as the voice of Mainframe. They are revealed to be an interstellar group of thieves, smugglers, and pirates known as the Ravagers. The Ravagers are broken into groups that follow a strong code and work ethic. Yondu broke the code by transporting children to Ego unaware of his evil intent. Upon learning of their fates, he saved Peter Quill from the same fate. Nevertheless, his actions resulted in Stakar exiling Yondu's faction from the rest of the Ravagers. In the film's climax, Yondu sacrifices himself earning the respect of the rest of the Ravagers and convincing them to get back together and form their own team.[9][10] Here's why Baywatch belly-flopped at the box office http://www.looper.com/67609/baywatch-box-office-bomb/ CW's 'Supergirl' Uses Superpowers to Further Liberal Agenda in Finale http://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/culture/lindsay-kornick/2017/05/22/cw-supergirls-superpowers-further-liberal-agenda-finale By Lindsay Kornick | | May 22, 2017 | 11:30 PM EDT The finale to The CW's Supergirl was thankfully focused more on action than politics despite what its title "Nevertheless, She Persisted" would have us believe. However, the final episode of the politically-charged second season still could not avoid a few glaring missteps as it flies off into the summer. No Mila Kunis Granted, story and characters aren’t exactly the most important thing in something like Ted. No, it’s how funny it is. That being said, Mila Kunis actually played a pretty likable character in the first movie. Cutting her out probably didn’t sit well with many people who thought she and Mark Wahlberg had good chemistry together. Therefore, they decided not to see the movie. Since it has become less and less relevant. As for when they tried to change things to All in the Family was not a smart move. In fact many critics and fans of season 1 thought the shift in the tone and with the actors was too much when season 2 started and the fact that when season 3 started, they started cutting down things hugely. However, every time they had to bring up something political between Mike and Ryan and making Kristin, dumber and dumber along with Vanessa. Those episodes were the lowest and most criticized episodes because they showed Mike to be some big baby and Ryan having no brains for even the most smallest things. Plus, in season 3 they started just dropping storylines and characters and putting characters in very ridiculous story lines. I think Vanessa's role from being smart, PhD who worked a very good job and wasn't ashamed of her life. Was turned into a person who had to settle all arguments, jumping on Ryan's side (because he was the baby daddy). To acting like the politics of teaching were horrible and then being out of a job not once, but twice and then Mike hating the fact that Vanessa wanted to have her own space and tutoring business was such a No No. Plus Mike going from loving holidays and events to hating them and wanting to kick everyone out of his house. Ryan magically being from Canada or his father returning, then dying. The wedding we never saw, Kristin wanting to be a doctor, but then thought shots give children autism and then dropping out to run a food chain for Mike. Ed making a big deal of wanting to get married again, but only to divorce him again because the TPTB couldn't figure out what to do with his "wife" after they married them over the summer. So they dropped her from the show and with Chuck's wife becau http://tvline.com/2017/05/10/last-man-standing-cancelled-abc-no-season-7/#comment-list-wrapper May 11, 2017 at 10:12 PM Some FACTS in all of this. LMS was considered on the bubble for many years. It did not even seem like it was going to make it the first year or two. But it did move along until syndication. The goal for any show these days is to make it into syndication, and LMS made it there. IF a show is produced by the network studio, there is more of a likelihood that they will keep it around another year if it is on the bubble. LMS was a Fox produced show, and there was a dispute over the money, basically. The same thing happened to Mike and Molly. Now as far as the other arguments. You all do realize that Patricia Heaton is a very outspoken conservative and her ABC show is going into its ninth season? You also do realize that The Real O’Neals, whose creator is a gay rights advocate, was also canceled? The truth is that LMS was expendable because ABC was not willing to take it one more year. It had a decent run of six years. Family Ties, which featured a conservative main character in the age of Reagan, was on for seven seasons, one more year than LMS. Tim Allen said something very insensitive a few weeks ago. However, unlike what happened with the Robertson family, ABC did not comment on this, Tim Allen was not made to apologize, etc. There was some well-deserved criticism about his comments comparing Hollywood to the 1930s, but it did not cause a firestorm. http://forums.previously.tv/topic/57325-canceled/?do=findComment&comment=3275849 1- Tim’s contract keeps growing year over year and as shows age the network takes on more of the price tag. With this not being owned by ABC that meant they weren’t getting the back-end of syndication money. 2- Not owned by ABC and the recent trend has been vertical synergy for all the broadcasts 3- it’s just creatively ran out of juice. (All of the above apply to 2BG as well) 4- It seems ABC is either dropping the Friday comedy block (OUAT maybe since lower ratings are acceptable on Friday?) or they are breaking up the Tuesday block for the two Marvel shows). My vote is on the former as they’ll just slot in speechless or blackish into Tuesday’s and have a new comedy premiere on Wednesday. http://forums.previously.tv/topic/57325-canceled/?do=findComment&comment=3276074 The new generation All in the Family vibe they were trying for did not work. Maybe because Tim Allen is no Archie Bunker or maybe a Norman Lear is required to guide the story. I'll try to find the link to an interesting article about why the show might have been canceled. I'm just highly amused at how "sensitive" conservatives are being about the cancellation cause they are being persecuted and this is more proof. http://forums.previously.tv/topic/57325-canceled/?do=findComment&comment=3275471 We loved Home Improvement and are enjoying it again in reruns. We tried to like this show but the constant political references, Vanessa doing all of the cooking, smoothing over conflicts between Mike and the kids, that constant nonsense with Ryan and Kristin was just too much to take. We watch comedies to laugh and relate to everyday circumstances that all parents/kids go through. I realize they were trying to show a family with disparate beliefs and politics but that took over the show. If a comedy is not funny, what's the point? https://www.datalounge.com/thread/18757738-gossip-no-one-in-hollywood-will-say-out-loud-part-8 It was Lana Wood, Natalie's sister who was evicted. If Lana did not take money from tabloids to keep the Robert Wagner killed Natalie rumors alive, Wagner probably would help her out. She deserves where she is. Natalie's kids are wealthy because Wagner takes very good care of them. I saw that the other day on Inside Edition about Lana being evicted and living in a hotel. Also, Natalie's daughters don't have much of relationship with Lana. Lana has claimed that Robert kept the daughters from visiting Natalie's side of the family. —Anonymous reply 488 Last Saturday at 2:13 PM Wow...look At Gaby Hoffmann Now! Pitch your Austin Powers 4 https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/69p0qu/pitch_your_austin_powers_4/ Why Maron’s last season didn’t work https://lebeauleblog.com/2017/05/07/why-marons-last-season-didnt-work/ Posted by kevthewriter Kevthewriter shares his thoughts on season 4 of the IFC sitcom, Maron. Of all the TV shows going on, Maron was a pretty underrated series. No one really talked about it but it was entertaining enough to make me want to watch more. It’s no Louie but it was still a decent show. Of course, it might’ve been partly due to the fact that it aired on the IFC Channel, a channel that, besides maybe Portlandia, no one watches. But, while I liked the first 3 seasons, the fourth season wasn’t very good. The most recent episode decided to take a more serious and pointedly less funny approach to talk about racial profiling. Who knew that sitcoms weren’t the best places for one-sided racial politics?
