I was kind of taken a back to learn that Brandon would've turned 60 years old this year (his birthday is February 1, 1965). That's one thing that makes his premature death so tragic, is that he had so much more to give and offer. It also hits me to know that he has now been gone longer (32 years) than he was alive (Brandon was only 28 years old when he died). How Cobra Kai Fixed Ali Mills' Terrible Karate Kid 2 Exit, 35 Years Later https://screenrant.com/ali-mills-cobra-kai-fixed-karate-kid-2-exit-explained/ Ali Mills (Elisabeth Shue) had a frustrating exit after The Karate Kid, but luckily, Cobra Kai has managed to turn that piece of storytelling around. Well, let's put it this way, among the films that were released in 1982, The Toy was the 14th highest grossing at the domestic box office: https://www.stuckin80s.com/1982-box-office.html It grossed $47,118,057 (or about $155,109,225.75 in 2025 dollars) against an estimated budget of $17 million. The reason the story doesn't make much sense is that The Cannon Group cut out approximately 45 minutes of footage. It was allegedly due to poor test screenings. Or, it could've been because Cannon figured that they could fit in more screen times (and thus, recoup their losses faster) with a shorter length movie. The Masters of the Universe movie with Dolph Lundgren was supposedly, one of those projects. The Cannon Group, who obtained the Superman film rights from the Salkinds in 1985, essentially released an unfinished movie. Say what you will about the quality of the Superman films after Richard Donner was unceremoniously removed from the director's chair, but at least, they (in this case, the theatrical cut of Superman II from Richard Lester, Superman III, and Supergirl) still for the most part, look polished and professionally put together. From a weak story to baffling creative decisions, this sequel fell far short of its legendary predecessors. But what exactly went wrong? We’ll explore: 1) Losing the Heart of Rocky – How Rocky V abandoned the underdog spirit that made the franchise great. 2) The Escalation Problem – Why the shift from Cold War supervillains to a street fight with Tommy Gunn felt like a massive downgrade. 3) The Money Problem – How an absurd financial subplot turned Rocky from a millionaire into a bankrupt former champion overnight. 4) The Apollo Creed Problem – Why the franchise wasted Apollo’s death and the impact it could have had on Rocky’s journey. 5) Rocky’s Family Drama – The film sidelined Adrian and Robert, undermining the emotional stakes of the story. 6) The Health Crisis Contradiction – How Rocky’s brain damage diagnosis was completely ignored in future movies. 7) Training Montage Fatigue – How the once-iconic montages became over-the-top and meaningless by this point. Despite all these missteps, the Rocky franchise managed to recover with Rocky Balboa and Creed. But should Rocky V have been made at all? Did it deserve its reputation as the worst film in the series? Let us know in the comments below! Will the NFL and Fox censor Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show out of fear of a Drake lawsuit? https://www.tmz.com/2025/02/05/kendrick-lamar-not-like-us-lyrics-fox-nfl-super-bowl-decision/ According to TMZ, "this year there's extra attention on Kendrick's plans, because of 'Not Like Us,' and the defamation lawsuit Drake filed against Universal Music Group over the diss track ... which, as we all know, flat-out calls Drake a 'certified pedophile.' So, here's what usually goes down ... once the execs get the set list, they call in the lawyers, who pore over the lyrics to make sure there's nothing that'll get the league or the network in trouble with the FCC. Now, there's no doubt Kendrick is doing the song -- our sources connected to him, the network and the league all confirm that. What the lawyers have to decide is whether to broadcast the lyrics that allegedly defame Drake, and risk a potential lawsuit." Trump’s New Attack Dog Turns Demure Press Briefing into MAGA Gone Wild https://www.thedailybeast.com/trump-press-secretary-maga-fies-white-house-briefing-room/
Pro-MAGA news organizations are being welcomed into the White House in a sweeping move to transform the coverage Donald Trump receives in the media. More than 440 press passes revoked by the Biden administration—many of them from right-leaning organizations—will be restored under Trump. Once banished conservative outlets like The Daily Signal and the One America News Network, both longtime supporters of the president, could now get front-row seats. At her inaugural press briefing on Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said she would “work diligently” to give back the passes that were “wrongly revoked” by Biden’s communications team, which favored the traditional mainstream media big hitters like The New York Times, The Washington Post and the more established cable and TV networks. Independent journalists, social media influencers, and podcasters will be given equal billing in the White House briefing room, and, in some cases, will be given greater access. Leavitt, at 27, the youngest ever White House press secretary, said that “new media voices who produce news-related content and whose outlet is not already represented by one of the seats in the room,” will be joining the briefings. “We welcome independent journalists, podcasters, social media influencers and content creators to apply,” she added.
Leavitt referred to Gavin Newsom as "Newscum". How ‘Emilia Pérez,’ The Most Nominated Film Of The Year, Became (One Of) The Most Hated https://www.huffpost.com/entry/emilia-perez-controversy_n_679bf39de4b0d0c917eb733b
Between widespread criticism of the film itself and resurfaced tweets from its lead star, the Oscars front-runner has been marred by tons of controversy. Some point to its poor depiction of trans identity and inclusion of transphobic tropes (LGBTQ advocacy group GLAAD called it a “step backward for trans representation”). Others have called out the movie for an “inauthentic” portrayal of Mexican culture and cartel violence. Still others have criticized the movie’s bizarre musical numbers — namely, one about vaginoplasty — but the “Emilia Pérez” controversies don’t stop there. This week, the film’s lead star came under fire after accusing fellow Oscar nominee Fernanda Torres’ team of “speaking badly about me and ‘Emilia Pérez,’” per an interview with Brazilian outlet Folha de S.
