Gibson did look older than his character did. It’s one of the reasons he just wanted to be the director, not the lead. The studios basically made the call that he had to play William Wallace
To be fair to Mel, he actually didn’t want to be the lead actor. He wanted to just direct. He had a whole set of names in mind for William Wallace’s role (though I’m not sure if they were Scottish) . But the studios wanted Mel as the lead, presumably because he’s an A-lister and a box office draw
We don’t actually know in the movie. All we see is Mel Gibson’s face as he grimaces while the executioner does his stuff off screen
Real life: William Wallace was castrated. In this movie, it’s not clear, as they don’t show outright (for good reason)
It was in the director’s commentary. He said he got in trouble for it at the time of release. Mel’s explanation is that everyone in the movie, gay or straight, got it coming to them: the main character is beheaded and drawn-and-quartered. Mel claims there was no anti-gay intention
I like the closer. “Sacrifice of the Masses”
No matter what his baggage is, Manson is a gifted musician
That had to feel a little awkward to tell her : "sorry, your breasts are not nice enough. We have to put these prosthetics instead"
Surprised Wicked is tracking that high
I think he owes RFK Jr for the endorsement. Kennedy wants HHS Secretary
$200-250 budget. This is a box office bomb
It turns out that this album was a commercial failure. It’s her first album that failed to even chart on the Billboard top 200. She didn’t play any of the songs from this album in her current tour, opening for Pink
6.5/10
I actually had that thought on my 1st listen. The way she screams “I can be your disease” at certain points feels a little rock / metal. It wouldn’t be a bad idea for her to try to enter this genre to reinvent herself. She has the vocal skills for it
I thought the movie made clear that Lee wasn’t actually insane. She checked herself in and out of the hospital.
She is slightly above average. Not ugly. The question is whether she is really the 10/10 that this movie tried to claim. If you think she’s on that level, your standards are a tad low
Yes. But I don’t think they have any plans for a part 3
I read the nypost review just now: https://nypost.com/2024/11/11/entertainment/gladiator-ii-review-a-fantastic-denzel-washington-steals-this-enjoyable-enough-sequel/
3 stars out of 4
The review also says that this sequel isn’t as good as the original; this movie won’t win awards as the original did. But Denzel Washington seems to be great, and the theatricality is pulled off well
I’ll go to the theaters to see it
My fav songs from her:
"Cardinal"
"Lonely Millionaire"
"simple times"
"Oh, What a World"
"Velvet Elvis"
"Family is Family"
I like the songs "Velvet Elvis" and "Oh, What a World" from that album
Do you think this album is actually country though? The album gets categorized as country when i hear pop
I'd say her first two albums (Same Trailer Different Park) have some country elements.
But the albums after those 2 have not been country. Her album this year ("Deeper Well") and her Best-Album grammy winning album "Golden Hour" are straight pop
