When Longshanks kills his son's lover
One of my favorite scenes.
Brutal.
And it feels like an authentic occurence.

I haven't seen it in awhile but I remember funny when the moat guards looking down at them from the window go to see the body then realize the king did it so they went back to guarding.
shareWhile a good scene this is also one occurrence in the film where they were liberal with history.
The way Piers Gaveston, Edward II's favorite, is said to have really died was 1000 times more brutal
Yes....but, didn't the English from roughly 700 years ago not know that would not be politically correct almost a millennium in the future. Conquest, pillaging, torture, rape, savagery.......fine. Violence against a gay person. EGADS NO!!!!!!
shareIt was a good scene
Gibson actually ran into trouble for it though. People alleged he was being anti-gay
Yeah that scene is awesome but he would get called homophobic for it today.
shareIt was in the director’s commentary. He said he got in trouble for it at the time of release. Mel’s explanation is that everyone in the movie, gay or straight, got it coming to them: the main character is beheaded and drawn-and-quartered. Mel claims there was no anti-gay intention
