Yep, shaky cam is a definite pet peeve of mine. Some "episodes" of it are so bad that I have to stop watching.
Not sure where this fits, but sound editing, or whatever it is, when the background music is so loud you can't hear the dialogue.
😄
What solar system? I don't need no stinkin' solar system.
😁 👍
I watched this back in the mid-70s when it first came out. It was two hours of torture and I couldn't wait to get out of the theater (I was with a school group and couldn't just get up and leave). I still can't pick any one movie that I like the best, but I can very easily choose this one as the worst. By far. Obviously not my cup of tea.
It seems like a number of threads in General Discussion could/should really be on the specific movie or show boards instead. But I also understand that a lot of people do like Leia said and just put their comments in General. It makes sense if you consider that early on, when the individual movie pages were first imported or whatever you call it, they had no comments. (Hey, who wants to be first?? You go. No, you go.) Maybe people got in the habit of just going to General.
Aladdin, thanks in large part to Robin Williams' portrayal of Genie.
I'm not a Seinfeld fan either, and maybe you're right that it's character development and inside jokes that make it so popular. Maybe if I started from the beginning I would appreciate it. Friends was that way for me - saw parts of a few episodes and didn't understand what the big deal was. The running joke of "we were on a break" doesn't mean much if you haven't seen the origin of the situation. I finally got around to watching from the beginning and decided it was actually pretty good for its time.
As for Father Ted, it's the absurdity of it that is so funny. I'll admit I was a little unsure of it at first (I thought Ted was the sane, reasonable one surrounded by loonies) but once I figured out what they were going for, that Ted was the head loony, I had some pretty good laughs. However, I also learned that I can't binge-watch it; three or four episodes at a sitting is good. More than that and it becomes too predictable (sometimes annoying, actually) and hence, not so funny, for me anyway.
I wondered about the cash stash too, but my brain figured she'd been saving some from the household budget for a while. All that planning for her escape and then she didn't make sure the ring flushed away... You'd think she would have disposed of it after she left the house like others have suggested - or toss it when she was swimming ashore that night. Even if found eventually, being in the ocean after an assumed drowning shouldn't arouse suspicion, should it?
I'm stopping at season one. I'm not interested in watching the court case. The finish to season one was satisfying enough for me. And after reading some of the comments on season two, I'm just not interested anymore. Some have commented that the prosecution was inept and some rather absurd things happened and I just don't care to see that. Actually, the show lost me when Mark Latimer visited Joe Miller in jail. I can't imagine why that would be allowed.
Dino does it for me. 🎵 Everybody loves somebody...sometime...🎵
I was just a lurker at IMDb. I'm always late to the party - not up on current releases because I don't have cable TV and don't stream either. I wait for things to hit DVD and borrow from the library so I looked at comments to find things that sounded interesting. By the time I see something it has been pretty well commented on so I didn't feel I had anything much to add. But it's been fun to help build MovieChat from the beginning. I'm still amazed at how much Jim has been able to accomplish in such a relatively short time.

I don't think I'd use an actor's actual age to figure out a character relationship like the one mentioned here. I'd look for other clues to tie them together. It's not uncommon for actors to be years older or younger than the age of the character they're playing.
Obviously, with the Morse, Lewis, and Endeavour series, I think links like this one are expected, fans are looking for them, and the writers won't disappoint. I doubt it's just a coincidence that they used the Hathaway name. It'll be interesting to see if it goes anywhere.
I've responded to old posts too, but I figure it keeps things moving and maybe inspires a new thread somewhere.
😉
He also says "summat" instead of "something." I also notice "me" instead of "my" from some characters. As in, me mum.
I don't think Celia's a bad person, but from someone of her age I would expect better judgment about revealing such personal information, especially something as sensitive as abortion. I do think she fails to grasp just how much pain she has caused. I think you're right, she has become more self-centered than she was at first. Oftentimes I think it's because it took her so long to find real happiness that she just wants to revel in it, knowing their time together may be rather short, thus has little patience for others' issues. I don't think she intentionally sets out to hurt people, but the fact that she doesn't acknowledge the degree of damage is problematic. She needs to keep her mouth shut - but that doesn't make good drama, does it?
I've only seen the first three series so far, since the Christmas specials haven't been released on DVD yet, so I don't know if anything changes - I suspect not.
I didn't see any gay garbage. What does gay garbage look like? Is it different from straight garbage?
Sheesh.
