Exactly!
Yeah, and I would also like the option to view the threads in flat mode. That's what I always used on IMDb unless I was really confused.
Great! Thanks!
You said that those adept at psychiatry decide who is evil. They don't, because being "evil" is not a psychiatric condition. People are also not born "evil", some experts (but certainly not all) do argue that some people are born with a mental disorder that gives them a lack of empathy.
That still wouldn't make it self-defense, though.
Gaston fell to his death after stabbing the Beast while he was climbing up to reach Belle. Totally his own fault.
No. The Beast was holding him by his throat over the abyss. Gaston was begging him to spare his life. Killing him right then and there would NOT have been self-defense.
Killing him would not be self-defense. Gaston had been overpowered and was begging for his life.
Uhm no, you're being "a bit ridiculous". "Being evil" is not a psychiatric condition and whether someone receives the death penalty is not based on how "evil" someone is. Nothing worse than vigilante justice. The Beast gave Gaston the chance to redeem himself just like he got that chance to redeem himself. The fact that he didn't take it is his own responsibility. The Beast should not make that decision for him.
I actually (thought I) hated Pulp Fiction, and Tarantino in general, before I had even seen it! (Blame the geeks who wanted to seem cool by fanboying over an extremely violent movie). But then I saw Reservoir Dogs and loved it and knew I had to give Pulp Fiction a chance as well, which completely changed my mind. I'm back to hating Tarantino, though.
There are also several movies form the 70s and early 80s I had trouble watching all the way through back in the 90s because of the depressing-looking low video quality, but I have no problem watching and enjoying them now. The Godfather, for example.
I thought everybody openly hated Charles, including me.
I like The Mummy from 1999 better than previous versions. But I'm not sure if it could really be called a remake.
I'm still using both at the moment. Neither site provides enough discussions for me on their own right now.
I have to admit, when I was younger I just thought it was a dumb show about old people, but when I got older, I began to appreciate it as well. Some of the innuendos are so silly, but still funny. And it's such a cozy show! But only the earlier seasons, later seasons are really dumb, I can't believe how much the quality of the writing dropped.
That would be awful.
The Shawshank Redemption. Ugh!
Even though I wouldn't call myself a fan, I have to go with Star Wars, but only the original trilogy. Most franchises screw up with the second or third movie.
Why do people even check out those lists? Who cares what other people supposedly like.
That's not my or anybody else's problem.
The point is to save interesting, relevant or funny discussions that may go back many years. Many of us checked out the IMDb message boards after seeing a movie or tv show (new and old) to see what other people had to say about it. It's interesting and entertaining to see other people's opinions and perhaps get some answers to your questions. You don't have to start a new thread hoping someday someone might reply. Most of the time on IMDb I was actually a lurker instead of an active poster.
Yes, it's a shame to have many irrelevant threads like you mentioned, but there's no way for jim to go through all the boards and delete those threads.
If he had killed him at that moment it would not have been an act of self-defense but an act of vengeance. Who exactly decides who's evil or not and if they deserve death because of that? Do you go around killing people you think are evil?
