Did you see the documentary? Even if only one-sixth of it is true, it would be almost impossible to recover from that. It's too dark.
But the exact date? That is the question.
Of course, the media feels compelled to ridicule it.

No, the color version has been released on Blu-ray, while the B&W version has been released on UHD. I actually prefer the color version of this film. I find it to be marvelous.
Gladiator cleaned house, except—famously—not for best director. Looking back, Ridley Scott should have won. And the film won big (actor - picture) back when the Oscars actually meant something.
The trailer was a fascinating mix of outstanding and dreadful elements.
