Yeah, this makes sense when thinking about the movie again. Thanks.
I'm watching it right now on Amazon... I'm just a casual movie fan with no knowledge of the technical part... but to my eyes this does look like sh!t
Idk if it takes some time to get used to... but so far I don't like it.
I guess it is borrowing from the style used in the Into-The Spiderverse movies... but looks like cheaper / unfinished?
Would be a lot more if he hadn't taken a break from Hollywood and also his divorce.
I saw this last week and was kinda upset... graphics look like from 2012 and wish it had been 3rd person instead of 1st person. I love everything Indy but this feels so cheap.
I couldn't finish it... will try again though.
It's ridiculous and fun... very entertaining if you come in with the right mindset.
Wonderful movie.
I consider Se7en to be like a 'spiritual companion' to it.
+1
Reading the replies I think OP is actually a troll and we all fell for it.
I know there's a lot of criticism about spending on iphones... but I buy either every year or every other year a brand new iphone pro max... they do give a good $ back on trade-in, so it's not really +1000... you only end up paying like half... I can afford to spend $500 x year on a new phone... not a big issue.
This year besides the trade in my sister also had a $150 Apple Gift Card she got when she bought her laptop for college, which she gave me because she was not planning on purchasing anything else... so it was even better.
At the time of filming Leave The World Behind (Spring 2022), Julia Roberts's youngest biological son Henry was 14... so not much of a stretch being the mother of a 13 year old.
My mom is about his age... early 60s... she also had cancer (not throat) and after chemo and all the therapy, surgeries... she is not the same either. Terrible.
According to recent reports Will Smith?
He does have biological kids though.
So maybe bi?
I don't believe it though... but whatever, I don't care, just came to mind when I read your question.
What you wrote sounds pretty gay... not that there's anything wrong with it... just saying.
Reading your comment it seems like you answered your own question.
The movie deals a lot with loss, depression and suicide.
I like that it doesn't... not everything has to be answered.
That sounds like a great idea.
I respectfully disagree.
I still find Man On Fire to be an 'entertaining movie', but now watching in my 30s I consider it a well made - but superficial straightforward-kidnap/revenge movie.
Back when I was a teenager I thought this was something much deeper and admired Scott's frantic-paced style and use of color saturation effects of certain sequences. I was in awe of what was back then (for me at least) 'fresh'... now some of those things I admired look extremely dated and feel gimmicky.
A couple of years later Denzel starred in American Gangster which I thought was an extremely boring movie... now that my filmmaking tastes have I guess 'matured' I consider that movie superior to Man On Fire.
Man On Fire 7/10 (when I was younger a solid 9).
American Gangster 8/10 (when I was younger a 6).
He's probably busy making more money as a producer or just enjoying life.
I can imagine being a movie director to be a very stressful responsibilty... even with all the resources and millions... you have a lot of people to answer to... studio people and millions of fans.

I've never liked none of his movies and consider him beyond overhyped... similar to Michael Bay.
Would have chosen many other filmmakers to take over these movies than JJ Abrams.
If I had been in charge of Lucasfilm I would have persued Guillermo Del Toro to take over.
I would have also considered Denis Villeneuve, but I think he's too serious for Star Wars (similar to considering Christopher Nolan or David Fincher) all 3 of them are absolute MASTERS... but I don't know about them going into this fantasy territory.
IMHO it was Unbreakable in 2000 which I would rate a 8.5/10.
He was my favorite actor during the late 90s / early 00s, I would watch literally anything he was in because of movies like DIE HARD TRILOGY, 12 Monkeys, The Fifth Element, Pulp Fiction, The Sixth Sense, Armageddon, Death Becomes Her... I even liked Last Man Standing.
Everything else he did afterwards Unbreakable was 'just okay' at best... with some terrible ones in there.
Post-Unbreakable I did enjoy/found watchable the following even though many of them I would rate a 'failing' grade... on some of these he was not even the lead... I also may have attempted to watch other movies that I did not rate here during his post-Unbreakable era but those were really bad.
Bandits 4/10
Tears Of The Sun 6/10
Ocean's Twelve (It was only a cameo)
Hostage 5/10
Over The Hedge (voice) 6/10
Sin City 6/10
16 Blocks 6.5/10 (above average for this era)
Live Free Or Die Hard (disappointing Die Hard movie, even though I watched it twice in theaters) 6.5/10
Surrogates 6.5/10
Cop Out 4/10
The Expendables (it was only a cameo)
RED 5.5/10
The Expendables 2, 6.5/10 (supporting role, also above average for this era)
Looper (sucked)
A Good Day To Die Hard 4.5/10 (the worst one in the franchise)
Split (it was only a cameo)
Once Upon A Time In Venice 5/10
Death Wish 4/10
Glass 4.5/10
Will not even rate his VOD-era... I tried to watch a handful of those and couldn't finish none of them.
Just began watching it... 3 minutes in and two monsters are at it already lol.
