Were they established at the time the harassment took place? Or were they still young and just starting out? Jolie produces her own films now, but in order to fund them (and her large family) she still does big studio films occasionally. her liveliehood still depends on the big studios in some part. Many actresses do willingly sleep with studio people to get ahead, and no doubt Weinstein had plenty of women who would have willingly slept with him. But instead (or maybe in addition?), he continually forced his attentions on women who were not willing. He also had the money to pay for hookers if he just wanted sex without strings. This is kind of like Bill Cosby- he probably had groupies and and other women around who would have consented to having sex with him, just to be close to someone famous, but he chose to drug and rape women. Actors willingly laying down on the casting couch and prostitution is sleazy, but it is consenting adults and that is the difference here. It's not just about sleaziness- These women were not willing. It seems like it's not just about the sex for men like this, it is about the power to do something without consent. I think some actresses did speak out years ago, like Rose McGowan, and their careers suffered after that. He was powerful and had powerful cronies. It seems like everyone in Hollywood knew about him anyway , so speaking about it might have been futile. If you have heard the audio tape that was released today of him harassing an Italian model , she did what everyone says victims are supposed to do- she went to the police and wore a wire, and he still was not prosecuted but he DID make life hell for the victim, slandered her and stuff. So if you ever wonder why more women don't come forward, look at what happens to the ones who do. I need a sequel where she plays The Cure for him and puts eyeliner on him. I was in college when that movie came out and all the coolest people looked like Allison. Boys and girls shared eyeliner! There was no reason to make her over. I saw it in a theater when it came out and i was so mad at the ending. What kind of message is that sending. If you want a jock boyfriend you have to be a barbie doll? Screw that. Alison could do better than a jock bully, she just needed to wait til college and find a cool weirdo art student boyfriend! Allison all the way but i would never let the princess wash the black shit off my eyes. I hate that ending, everyone else can get accepted for who they are but Allison has to change in order to be accepted. That scene ruined the whole movie. I think Allison should have given Claire the makeover and put black shit ON her eyes. Peter Lorre is so good in that scene, even though I don't speak German I can watch it without even reading the subtitles and you can still understand the anguish he is expressing. What a swinging little song and I love her dance moves. agreed This isn't a political thread. I'm not going to debate that stuff with you. I disagree 100% and lets leave it at that. This is a "cast your own movie" thread. 'You can't try on clothes in the Internet, can you?' No you try them on at home and then return what doesn't fit, most places have free returns because they expect people to do that. Sometimes I order two of the same item in different sizes because different brands you might take different sizes. Then you return the ones you don't need. The movie is not about the votes. It's about the investigation, like "All the President's Men". I do remember it well! Having to look things up in books. Doing your homework at the library. Owning a large hardcover dictionary. Looking up movie times in the newspaper. Cutting recipes out of magazines and newspapers. Being the only one you knew who liked a certain band or tv show and having no one to talk to about it. Subscribing to "zines" ( xeroxed paper version of blogs, basically) Having pen pals that you wrote actual letters to. Having to physically go to 5 stores to find what you wanted. Trying on clothes in brick and mortar stores. Receiving paper catalogs for different specialty clothing stores , book stores, etc. Standing in line all night to get concert tickets. Reading magazines to get makeup or fashion ideas. BUYING PORN! In an actual adult video store. LOL does anyone actually pay for their porn these days? I know there are poop apps and sex apps and dog apps and food apps but I am telling you that REAL LIFE dogs and friends and sex and food are BETTER. Get off your phone and live life for a little while. Good pick! he has a certain gravitas. It was not directed at you. You are over-reacting. I'm American, that is why I said "WE". high school diploma cancelled! This could definitely be it. I think Southerners are more "old fashioned" in some ways. like they (some of them) raise their kids to say 'yes sir' and 'yes ma'am' to any adult, stuff like that. And I don't think I have ever heard any child in California talk that way. And when they do get mad or if they don't like someone, they have fake-nice euphemisms for it instead of just being blunt. Like "bless your heart" can actually mean "fuck you" if said in the right tone of voice. LOL the whole rest of the world is weird we can't possibly be the weird ones
