She saw them both as superficial and shallow. The stuttering was also a manifestation of her feelings of inadequacy in comparison to her parents. They repulsed her yet she also felt inadequate compared to them. When she became a Jain her stuttering stopped. In the end, she regretted her actions and became non-violent.
