Thank you very much. Blessed be!
I never meant to imply that an idiot who buys a smart device will EVER get it to work! Technology is only as good as it's fundamental design and end user let it be. I've taught people about digital TVs since they first hit the market. Someone buying one of these sets would ask me to describe the difference between an analog TV and his new set, and I would say, "The good news is, the set does a lot more than your old set. The bad news is, it DOES A LOT MORE than your old set, and you have to learn a lot more" I agree with you, pop.
This is long overdue, I am sorry to say: Thank you, Leia.
Your English is great. I'd like to say more, but I'm being squeezed to death!
In another life I was an author. There are two types of writers: those who like to get right to the point, and those who like to spin a yarn. This show is spinning a yarn. I, too, would like a faster pace, and maybe Nolan is a little too impressed with himself, but I find the time I give WW rewarding. The 2-year wait for the next season, not liking that at all.
Most of you have intuitively grasped a truth: In my experience, generally speaking the dumber my customer, the more interested s/he is in smart products. And the percentage of stupid people in our species continues to grow exponentially.
It was obviously not written as a limited-run series. The finale had a notable increase in ratings over the previous 6 episodes. EC at this point is neither canceled nor renewed. I think everyone agrees it got better with each week and is now one of the very best fantasy series on TV, whether broadcast or streaming. It certainly shames its lead-in, Grimm, in every way. Leia, I hope NBC renews it. I want to SEE the Beast Forever, dammit! Also, I was very impressed by how well Ana has grown the West character. The snarl is gone from her face and voice, and the venom is gone--but not the spirit. There is real love and kindness in her face 😊. I would miss her, and I would miss talking with you!
I agree with both of you on the points you raise. Tywin had more time, and brains, to orchestrate (nice to be among literate posters) more evil than Joffrey and Ramsay combined. And i agree about Dance's acting chops. He makes a great antagonist, e.g., The Golden Child or Last Action Hero. There are two reasons why Tywin doesn't fill me with the same visceral urge to kill as the two younger men: First, out of sight, out of mind. I didn't SEE the Hound do the scouring. I didn't KNOW Tywin was behind the Red Wedding until after the fact. Second, Tywin has some admirable traits. His support of the Lannister name moved him to hideous acts, but did not blind him to what a damaged, defective creature Joffrey was. Tywin was not delusional, except for the incest beneath his roof. Second, he was kind to Arya. Kindness to Arya wins massive R_Kane points. He obviously knew she wasn't the peasant daughter of a stonecutter, but, instead of suspecting the worst he actually coached her on how to maintain her ruse. He saw the special young lady behind the disguise, and clearly enjoyed her company. These facts mitigate my judgement of Tywin. They need not mitigate yours.
Cersei clearly made her move into monster status with the incineration of the High Sparrow, her daughter-in-law and eight percent of everyone on the GoT payroll. She will grow increasingly insane, caring about nothing other than venting her rage and grief. That is why her reign of terror will be brief. She's not doing any thinking at all. She's got the life expectancy of a brownie at a stoners' convention.
Littlefinger, on the other hand, will be among the last players standing in this game. He is a survivor. He plays several moves ahead, and he is ruthless and unscrupulous. He threw his betrothed out the Moon Door, for menacing Sansa! Then he sold Sansa, daughter of the only woman he ever loved, into slavery to the Boltons!!
Ramsay and Joffrey are at the top of my personal list for a reason they both share: singularity of purpose. Joffrey's only reason for doing the things he did was because he COULD do them. He didn't behead Ned Stark, murder prostitutes, have the Hound ride down a butcher's son, rape Sansa for any agenda beyond exercising his right to do so. Ramsay was worse. His only agenda was to make people suffer great pain. Joffrey was an solipsist. Ramsay was a sadist.
EDIT Another factor is that Jack Gleeson is a great actor and MADE us hate him. When he was on the show, I often joked, "He must have the world's biggest bodyguard with him when he goes out because there are so many people who want to kick the crap out of Joffrey." He may STILL need that guy!
Speaking as a Norselander myself, let me ask you please to capitalize Viking😁! After seeing Skarsgard in this and The Legend of Tarzan, I think the guy can act, which shocks me in regard to someone from the cast of True Blood. I also think the young actror playing Ziggy deserves recognition. I think that Jane is secretly concerned that he might BE a monster and is trying to deny it to everyone, especially to herself.
The Blu-ray transfer of this movie is outstanding. It's worth owning just for how the Techicolor pops off your screen.
No.
It won't kill it, only take it out of the mass market, for those who want the very best results.
I just re-watched the most recent ep, and I have to say that I never thought I'd see Eric Northman masturbate! More seriously, I think Skarsgard is doing a great job with the role. It's hard to express rage effectively as quietly as he does. I imagine Christine has always sensed the anger inside him, telling herself it was passion. If Maddy is "a ticking time bomb" he is, too.
I understand why you like Maddy as a character. She is charming! She is also self-deluded, not seeing the personal issues she has hidden under her altruism.
Probably the all the major players are, at base, delusional. That's what the show's title means. I think the series finale will look like the ending to The Lord of the Flies, with better writing. I enjoyed your post.
The instant I saw her body language and facial expressions, I thought of the bitch who tormented Arya during her training in Bravos. Given how much this series so obviously wants to emulate GoT, I'm inclined to think that character had a large influence in developing Ginger.
I like you. The rotoscoping (FX) were done by an animator on loan from Disney.
Dear Jackass: You do know that this movie is based on William Shakespeare's "Tempest," right? Oh, you don't? You don't even know the play, which is still being produced after centuries, or who Shakespeare, known as "the Bard of Avon," is? Do you know what "the Id," a term coined by Sigmund Freud, means, as in "monsters from the Id"? These are rhetorical questions. You are too fucking stupid to enjoy this classic.
When he played The Flash, John Wesley Shipp was VERY muscular and could have snapped Grant Gustin in half. No foam suit. I started reading Flash comics in the 1960s and THAT Barry Allen had a ripped physique. Regarding the comments about a high metabolism, there was a great scene in the first season of Shipp's Flash where he ate something like 10 pounds of pasta at one sitting. This aired during the height of the Jogging Boom, and was a wry comment on runners doing what was called carbo-loading. Gustin is just puny, face it. I like him ... but ... you know, puny.
