MI series constantly set their story in foreign lands. Places that do not resonate with Americans, places we would never care to visit. It’s official now MI7 is not looking too good at the BO. Is it the foreign setting that we find so off putting? Is it the foreign production value masquerading as American that is a turn off ?
I for one would love to see MI8 set here in America. Looking at IMDb filming is set in unknown foreign lands as well.

If this was more American and set right here would you support it more?

For this American, foreign settings are almost 100 percent the appeal of spy films. No one wants to see Ethan Hunt having a thrilling adventure across the strip mall landscape of a fast food nation.

There's a lot of cool things to see in America, but we don't have beautifully constructed cities, castles, ruins, coliseums, and grand cathedrals like in other countries (well, cathedrals are debatable.)

I for one would move MI8 to be 100% set in Trenton, NJ.

The reason MI is shot overseas its that its cheap film there. $1 will get you a looong ways. Europe especially, its very underdeveloped and cheap.
Hopefully I will go one day and see for myself.

Rome and Venice. Have you been there? Bc they’re beautiful. How do you know what Americans want? Americans love seeing movies that have locations. That’s why MI and Bond films resonate. The eye has to travel. The last Bond movie put Matera on the destination map. You have this thing about being pro-American and actually you aren’t. You are actually anti-American. Where in the US are you from?

It has ZERO to do where the film is set. It's exhausting that people don't have a clue why these films are not doing so great. It's obvious yet y'all keeping coming up with the dumbest reason... 😂
