Patrick Stewart must be greedy to star in this

He and his fans farewelled his portrayal of Professor X in 2017's Logan.

The movie sees him killed and buried by no other than Wolverine himself (two versions).

So whyd he turn up for this terrible movie to show the world how old he is and then see him die again?

He must be greedy. Love to know why he's needing of a few more millions.

A lot of fans have been dying to see the various franchises, (x-men, fantastic four, blade) brought into the mainstream MCU.

Personally I think a lot of them would not fit together very well.

I give Sam Raimi great credit for managing to give the fans what they wanted, in such a way that it does not disrupt the MCU.

It's not greedy to need income. He's pretty old, why not take the roles he can get.

reply

Because it's called selling out.

reply

Lol, it's a job for an actor, which is what he is. Do you consider it selling out when you go to work?

reply

I don't think he understands the concept of 'selling out' 😅

reply

Yeah, I noticed he didn't/couldn't answer.

reply

It's a different version of the same character and it fits the story. That's why he showed up.

reply

I agree. They should have used a different actor, not Patrick Stewart

reply

Yeah why agree to die twice? He did a good farewell in Logan.

reply

It always amuses me when people think someone pursuing their profession, and being paid for it, is "selling out." He's an actor and was offered a role. He accepted it. That he played the character before, and the character died, isn't really relevant. The character's existence in this film is perfectly logical.

Acting is an art form. Cinema is an art form. Not just money. Not just a paycheck.

reply

Be that as it may, without a paycheck 99% of people will not show up for work, that includes Hollywood.

reply

I hate to inform you, but the vast majority of great art was produced on commission; in other words someone paid for it. Michelangelo, DaVinci,Shakespeare, Mozart were all paid for their work. Artists get paid for their work. The myth that they create art just for its own sake is just that: a myth. Artists may be driven to create, but they expect to get paid for it.

reply

Bunch of sellouts, they are!

reply

Which is why A list movie stars, and great directors, et al. are willing to work for peanuts, because the satisfaction of producing art, of laboring solely for the sake of their beloved craft, is all the compensation they need. They never hold out for more money.

Oh... wait... Never mind.

reply

It's called show "business" for a reason, lol.

reply

He gets offered buckets of money for a job that will not only be a few days of easy work, but which will benefit his career, at a times when he's getting old and the offers aren't coming in as fast as they used to... and you think he should TURN DOWN A DEAL LIKE THAT???

You might be fool enough to refuse a chance like that, but Stewart isn't.

reply

But that raises the question: does Patrick Stewart still NEED more buckets of money at this point?

reply

All I know is that a comfortable old age is extremely expensive.

reply

Probably true and kinda sad. All this fame and wealth, but you still have to keep working into your eighties to pay the bills.

reply

I don't know if he *needs* to keep working or if he just likes acting, but well. He's been divorced a few times, so who knows how much of his X-Men money is left.

reply

So this is Doctor Strange in the MULTIVERSE of Madness.

Could it perhaps be another Xavier?

reply

I never wanted to see him again. I'd said my goodbyes.

reply

Yes. Because this universe revolves around you?

reply

He looked like he didn't belong here. The scene in which he is trying to help Wanda actually looked like Patrick Stewart wandering into the wrong movie set.

reply

He is too old to play Professor X. That's why Logan worked, he was playing a future version where he's elderly and dying. That's the only way it works.
