Excellent series overall (Spoilers)

I got to admit it ticked the boxes of what I wanted from it. A action packed thriller with a badass central character.

I haven't read the books by Lee Child, so I can't judge it by the books. So I can only go on the show and overall it was a lot of fun. And far more violent then I was expecting to be honest.

I thought Alan Ritchson as Reacher was great, the guy has the charisma to carry the role and he's damn impressive in the fights. I hope we get more to come with him as Reacher.
I was a little worried that Willa Fitzgerald's Roscoe would end up been put front and centre of the show but she was pretty good and her character was actually likeable, although she did kind of fall into background in the last few episodes. Also special praise to Malcolm Goodwin as Finlay, probably the best performance out of the supporting roles. Also hope we see more of Maria Sten as Neagley is future series. Great to see them go for a pretty unknown cast as the only ones I've seen before were Kristen Kreuk (Smallville) and Bruce McGill (Last Boy Scout)

I didn't find the villains were all that great and you could tell from mile away who it was from the first two or three episodes. I would have liked to see someone who could go toe to toe with Reacher and could sell you on that Reacher could be trouble. And one fight in episode 7 annoyed the hell out of me with Reacher and the skinny guy with crowbar, I just don't buy someone like that outmatching Reacher even with a crowbar. But overall some gruesome deaths and action was pretty great.

I'm glad they kept it to just 8 episodes though. And I hope they knock up the budget a bit in Season 2. But overall a great first season of Reacher.

I agree. I thought they found the perfect actor to play Reacher. I have read a few of the novels and he pretty much nailed it. The supporting cast is great, though Teale at times a little cartoonish with his villainy. I especially liked Roscoe, Finlay and Neagley.

I also agree about the crowbar fight ending in the swimming pool, I thought Reacher would have destroyed him, crowbar or not. Maybe they could have gotten a more imposing bad guy for that role.

Really hoping to see more seasons of Reacher. 9/10

Yeah, the crowbar thing was quite cringe.

My wife and I watched the first two eps last night. She's a big fan of the books. I tried to read one, but for whatever reason the character didn't resonate with me.

That said, both of us enjoyed the show. I've never seen or heard of the lead actor before, but he's got a quiet charisma that is in keeping with the character according to my wife.

My only minor quibble so far is the character's encylopedic knowledge of everything it seems.

Sidebar: Kristen Kruek... she looks gorgeous at 40.

The guy with the crowbar I felt the same way but there was something ex military or more disciplined about him. Trying to remember now but at one point in that fight Reacher takes his eyes off the ball and the skinny gets a couple of more shots in which seemed out of character for Reacher too.

I was also concerned when Willa appeared that it would somehow become about her doing most of the work or assisting beyond her capabilities but overall they didn't much PC bullshit in.

I know it's a show and pure fantasy but the way Reacher and Neagley throw punches and ask questions later seems a little heavy handed to me. Shouldn't they be a little more stealthy?

Like when Roscoe's car is vandalized and he goes straight over to the diner and assaults the guys.

Anyway, it was a fun series. I don't watch much new TV anymore so it was something refreshing and different.
