I realize this guy looks more like the Reacher from the books
but come on. On the big screen that midget scientologist is Jack Reacher. This movie is going to crash hard without Tom.

There is some truth too that.
Jack Reacher was a very good movie, and it go made because of Cruise star power, and he also produced. Many people thought he was miscast but I loved the movie.
Now we have an actor who resembles the character from the book, but he's clearly a second rate actor. Probably came cheap.
And still not tall enough. Probably will look tall enough given Hollywood's actors are normally little short fuckers, so anyone over 6 foot will look like a giant.
shareHe's exactly the right height, 6' 5". How is that not tall enough?
shareHe isn't 6' 5", he's at most 6' 2"... that was the height he was claiming prior to this series being made and if you look at him when he is standing with Willa Fitzgerald in the show it is pretty clear he isn't a foot taller than she is because she's only 5' 5"...
Here's a photo of the cast. You'll notice he isn't towering over them like someone that's 6' 5" would be.

I stand corrected.
shareNo problem. I suspect you read some of the PR bullshit that Amazon's market department had been spewing. I knew there was one pre-release story where they claimed he was 6' 5", I believed it myself until I started watching the show... at that point I started looking deeper because it looked like BS.
shareHe's definitely not an A-list actor but he's far from 'second rate' - at least his performance is and while I like both cinematic efforts this series is much better than both.
shareWell it's not a movie.
shareJust curious - are you even aware of the controversy between the book fans and the Tom Cruise portrayal?
From the start, book fans greatly disagreed with TC being signed to that role and with good reason, too.
Cruise should never have been cast and is probably the reason it didn't turn into the franchise series he was hoping for.
I'd say the second movie being shit is the reason there is no talk about a third on the horizon.
shareGood point. The first Reacher was very good, the second one sucked balls and I can't even remember enough about it to critique it. I can't remember who was in it besides Cruise. I can remember how it made me feel, and my enduring feeling is it was an awful movie that I couldn't wait to finish so I could just go pee. It does remind me of a Maya Angelou quote though
"“At the end of the day people won't remember what you said or did, they will remember how you made them feel.”
Yeah I can't really remember much about it either. I just know it was a huge letdown compared to the first movie. The first movie I watched at least three times. I won't ever watch the second movie again.
shareReacher in this show lacks personality, he is like an action figure. I am not caring about any of the characters yet. It is still enjoyable but I am not sure how many seasons I would watch if they don't make him more lifelike.
shareHave you read the books? It's been a while for me and I haven't read all of them, but Reacher in the books was pretty stoic and rather introverted.
shareI haven't read them. I get what they're going for and it makes sense. By throats so he became a little more lifelike. I'm not wanting him to be a fast talker or anything. At times the show just felt like it had something missing.
Still entertaining though.
