Interesting that Obi-Wan suddenly finds his "complete and total powers" and easily defeats Darth Vader (who is literally at the zenith of his power before and during Rise of a New Hope). Obi-Wan smashing open Vader's helmet and "choosing" not to vanquish him right there, would utterly neutralize Vader for the remaining movies. Knowing that Kenobi could so easily destroy him, Vader would certainly not have the swagger or reputation of terror throughout the galaxy in the remaining canon. I suppose it's great theater for the Kenobi series to maintain the invincibility of Obi-Wan, but the canon specifically states that Kenobi goes to Tatooine a defeated Jedi, and slinks away in the shadows, keeping watch (from a distance) over Luke Skywalker. No fans would buy the continuing terror that Vader instills in the remaining movies if Obi-Wan could have defeated him so easily. You lost me at episode 6.

This series sucked.

So far Mandalorian has been the only good one... Disney is currently 1/3.

*I haven't seen "Rebels", although it sounded to me like a lame kiddie version of Clone Wars.

I think the cartoons are all "kiddie" versions and although Rebels does start off seeming more glaring so, I think by the end it was actually the better of the two.

Clone Wars kinda starts like that, but it matures significantly in later seasons and the final season was absolutely no kiddie stuff whatsoever, it was brutal and emotional really.

Don't be fooled by the animation style, it is what kept me from watching it for years and now I am glad I watched it.
Really liked it, even.

I thought the same thing when I saw ads for Rebels but it ended up being fairly good.

Rebels takes place after Clone Wars. You could say the 2 shows go hand in hand. Rebels was excellent and reveals some interesting aspects of the SW universe. Clone Wars was a snore fest, but is necessary to see all of Ahsoka Tano's arc. Bright eyed Padawan in the beginning to a hard badass warrior.

To me it was kinda boring/not exciting... had some good ideas as well as some Mando-Luke episodes.

From the Boba Fett-centered episodes I think the one I enjoyed the most was the one where they hijack the train-like transport with the Tusken Raiders.

But it also has some terrible moments... any scene with the biker gang... many fight scenes looked amateurish and extremely slow... I also disliked that Boba Fett had lost his edge, was merciful and weak... Disney trying to make him more likable I guess.

I would rate the first season a 5/10.

Yeah I thought the ‘train’ episode was very cool too. When they took the train I had to re-watch it cos the first time I watched it was on my phone at work! Action sequences like that need to be seen on a big screen. The other episode I loved was the one where Mando flys his new ship for the first time - when he takes it for a test flight, that was awesome! I also was very impressed with how good Luke looked, considerably better than when we saw him in The Mandolorian.

Oh and I agree about the biker gang and their silly coloured bikes, I was never sold on them.

I extremely disliked Mando switching to a Naboo Starfighter, since the Razor Crest provided some room to walk and perhaps a resting quarter, he is out in space for days... he needs room on board to capture his bounty, etc... it's just dumb to give him this type of ship to live in space in a seated position.

Yes I definitely agree with you about the Razor Crest but the Naboo fighter is still extremely cool!

I don’t understand how Kenobi could not finish off Vader for a 2nd time!!! He was stewing for 10 years. And in return of the Jedi obi wan basically tries to convince Luke that Vader needs to be killed.

If Obi Wan killed Vader, then how do you explain the events to follow in the future films? He had no choice. Obi Wan had to let him live

I can't believe so many people on here can't comprehend this. If Obi Wan had killed Vader, then they would have to scramble some ideas together in order to bring him back to life. Then everyone would be complaining how dumb that was

But Obi-Wan should not have been able to defeat and/or kill Vader . . . that's the point. Vader was far stronger than the battle on Mustafar (which Kenobi barely won) . . . and Obi-Wan suddenly has the advantage?! I don't think so.

This is a show called Obi Wan. So he had to win in the finale of the series. The majority of us want to see more of happy endings, instead of a dark finish with evil reigning supreme

Star wars is about good being stronger than evil. Obi Wan had the full use of the force for the final battle with Vader. This is also done so we understand Vader telling Obi Wan that when they last met Vader was the learner but now he is the master. That could not have been at Mustafar since Anakin was not fully Vader yet or as strong as he later became.

It's no surprise that Obi would spank Vader down. Vader can't embrace the Force like he should. Dude is too angry and full of emotion. His judgement is clouded. Even Palpatine noticed it. The dark side is not a good teaching tool.

A bit like the end of ROTS it was a bit of a sad "what might have been" finish.

They had Owan Lars in this and Bail Organa. They could really have fleshed out these characters in particular to add to the lore. There's been enough discussion on the "merits" of the Reva character already but ultimately the greatest failure she brought was taking away the chance for any character development - and this includes to Obi-Wan Kenobi, the guy the show was supposed to be about!

Ewan McGregor had a couple of really great moments in this episode - the tearful conclusion to his battle with Vader and him telling young Leia the gifts from her parents. These were beautiful and elevated this far above the other garbage we saw.

I could have done with less video game Kenobi and more of that. But sadly the chance has gone now...

Yeah, it was a decent series, but not very consistent with the movies set after it. Still, there was only so much they could do with the continuing characters. Obi-wan should have had another (higher ranking) Vader henchman to defeat to make it more consistent, instead of Vader himself.

Do you remember him having a big old conversation with Luke who was convinced there was good still in him and he could be turned back?

It went something like "I can't kill my own father!" to which Obi-Wan replied "Then the Emperor has already won. You were our only hope."

Where was his "hallmark" there? 😂

Do you even Star Wars? According to this show the guy could have killed him but didn't because he wanted to watch his tortured son kill his own father instead...

Even worse is that in the finale Obi-Wan says the line "I have to face him, Master. Whether he dies or I do, this ends today"

So he's seemingly going to confront Vader with the hopes of killing him. It's just all around lazy writing and whilst I enjoyed the episode stuff like this just holds it back from greatness.

Yeah, I did notice that. You're not wrong re the lazy writing. Did you also notice Vader's first line on their confrontation?

"Have you come here to kill me Obi-Wan?"

That was especially funny as Midi-Chlorian Count Jnr was watching this the day after I had but as soon as he said that, they screamed out "Eh?! But it's YOU that's been chasing after him!".

I laughed as it was exactly what I'd thought the day before. Atrocious writing even little kids can see through!

Heck maybe even no dialogue at this point would have been more effective, they just ignite their lightsabers and start to duel.

Well exactly.

They could easily have written the showdown though without it making Obi-Wan look like a psychopath, hoping to get off on watching Luke kill his own father.

Here's my suggestion (although still a bit crap as it requires Palps bailing Anakin out again):-

Obi-Wan batters Vader (again). Perhaps even still using computer game force skills. Vader, beaten, gives us an eye rolling, yet series and ANH saving, line like "Obi-Wan I thought I had you beaten but now I can see I am still but a learner next to your awesome force mastery".

Obi-Wan then declares "And now you must die. As you've just admitted YOU'VE killed Anakin, so there's 0% logical reason why I would now leave you alive, you're more machine than man!"

Then just as Obi-Wan is about to polish him off, Palps appears in the nick of time to save him! Cue some Emperor style force lightening - Obi-Wan evades some of it with his saber but we see him getting electrocuted (Palps ROTS style) and before our eyes we see Obi-Wan age! Morph from Ewan McGregor into Alec Guinness.

Obi-Wan then somehow retreats (probably with Reva helping him escape).

The End. Job done.

Obi Wan was speaking about killing Vader because he stopped sensing Anakin. He felt no presence so he felt there was no Anakin to redeem. Luke refused to believe this. He had extended mercy to Vader by letting him live and never sensed him, so he feels Vader much be destroyed.

So the Obi-Wan of this show should have had no problem killing Vader and subsequently would have had no problem wanting Luke to kill Vader (as he had no belief Anakin was still "there").

Luke reaches a higher level by still believing his father exists, buried deep down. Obi-Wan of the OT didn't believe in this possibility, yet Obi-Wan of this show does, despite Vader literally telling him it doesn't!

Obi-Wan killed Darth Maul. Anakin killed Dooku (with literally no blowback from Obi-Wan nor subsequently the Jedi Council). Windu was happily going to kill Palpatine. Obi-Wan & Yoda want Luke to kill Palpatine in the OT.

Are you bringing cartoons / comics to the table here to defend this nonsense?

Obi wan still believes theres good in anakin but when anakin says he didnt fail him and darth killed anakin thats when he knew anakin was truly dead and darth vader replaced him
