that seems to be the standard fare in all these shows/movies.
The sort of people no civilization in it's right mind would let anywhere near a spacecraft on the ground, let alone in interstellar space.
You mean you wouldn't crew the pride of the fleet with a bunch of 21 year old college dropouts and assign a sociopathic cutthroat as their captain? Alright so he's a terrible astronaut. But he'd make a wonderful Dread Pirate Roberts! Katee Sackhoff should've suited up on day one, opened the ship to vacuum, then jettisoned all the bodies and finished the mission by herself with the AI.
Sadly, the hot Latina died as puddle of sludge, which pretty much describes this show: such a waste (Thulsa Doom quote). Sci-fi makes way for gay/human-AI/three-way hetero/homo sex with the woman as the meat in the jizzburger sammich, and this compensates for the moronic narrative? On what planet? Not on Planet R_Kane. Geez. Katee Sakhoff gets me hard, but this is a millennial mess.
Not for nothing, but I respect and also laugh at the budget-conscious “we don’t wear uniforms” narrative decision. Wardrobe budget could not spring for uniforms; and casting could not spring for adult actors with the maturity this interstellar mission required?! Where’s the fun in that? What’s the age of the average Netflix viewer? I am guessing 19.
I'm a few more episodes in now and I can see what you and the original poster mean about the show. I am put off by their sheer lack of professionalism and all the sex and all the "I am sorry!" stuff going on. I'll see it through to the end but it's also a bit tiring how each episode ends with some new serious problem.
That whole episode where it was all on her head felt like a big waste of time.
It sounds like this took a page out of "Star Trek: Shitcovery" and "The Expanse." Did they diss Christians at all in this? It's not a sci-fi show these days unless they diss Christians, slam God, and make all the secular humanists and atheists look like they're the only people who can make it into space.
I don't understand. The same brainless ill-disciplined idiots with the same lack in experience and maturity are leading contemporary multi-billion-dollar companies. So what?
Maybe the whole thing should be regarded as satire?
Still a nice way to get rid of this idiots by sending them to outer space, isn't it? Reminds me of Douglas Adams... But you are right, even in the Hitchhiker's Guide they had some kind of military-grade discipline...
Same problem as on the recent Twilight Zone space mission episode. The crew has the emotional stability of a group of second graders. Astronauts are supposed to be highly vetted and trained. Maybe a few break down when things go sideways, but not the whole crew.
