WTF was the random lesbian romance at the end

It was clear from the beginning that Melanie was attracted to her.

and clear that Old Dolio was attracted to her. that being said, I didn't think it was necessary. However, when I thought about it, if this was a main stream movie Melanie would have been a guy and they would have hooked up at the end, so it seems logical that they did.

I got to disagree.

It's pretty much set up that Old Dolio and Melanie have feelings for one another. It's not smashed over the audiences head, it's all little touches and the way Old Dolio gets flustered when Melanie dresses sexy and Melanie is always staring at Old Dolio. I think it's set up that Melanie is Old Dolio escape from her family life and finding herself and love for the first time.

Definitely in last 40 minutes of the film the romance is front and center of the film.

I find it very hard to complain about a lesbian romance, random or otherwise.

I think you didn’t pay attention to the movie properly because the tension was building up between the two characters for a long time and it was an actually pretty great payoff.

It made me very happy.
