How is this show and the cartoon version better than the last 3 movies?
Everything in this is what the last three was supposed to be
shareEverything in this is what the last three was supposed to be
shareTotally agree. I said the exact same thing to my son after watching this 2 hours ago. Great series and epic episode.
shareBecause it actually feels like Star Wars, written by people who understand and respect the lore, and are putting in references that pleases the fans. The storyline is also well-thought out and simple all at once. That, and KK and her minions were not allowed to interfere with this show.
shareBingo , couldn't agree more
shareIn all fairness, it's easier to create Star Wars in episodes like these because they allow for filler and side quests which gives the proper character development that the epic films don't have time for.
If they were to make a Mandalorian style film helmed by Filoni and Favreau, it's not going to be all that much better than the Force Awakens.
It would be better than TLJ which was ruined by Rian Johnson throwing away the source material so he could subvert expectations. And it'll be better than ROS which was Abrams trying to undo Johnson's mess which wasn't doable. But that's not saying a whole lot.
"epic films"
More like epic facepalms.
I have less than zero interest in any of the films since the OT, except maybe Rogue One.
The Mandalorian on the other hand, I look forward to every new episode. The Mandalorian saved Star Wars as far as I'm concerned.
That's the benefit of having episodes. You get to expand on world building and character development instead of trying to mash everything into one two-hour film.
shareWait, then how did the Originals did it??? How did RO did it???
You make it sound like it is impossible for a movie to be good because there is not enough time while, surprise, generally speaking movies are better than shows ... exactly because they can tell the story in a condensed way and don't need to use fillers ...
The originals did it by creating a space adventure nobody had seen before, which became the formula for movies throughout the 80s and 90s to the point where if we see it again it feels like a rip off and not fresh.
Rogue One kinda did it by building off of that old feel of the originals. I'd argue Force Awakens kinda did it too by also using what we had seen and felt before with the originals. Then Rian Johnson threw all those plot points away.
Meanwhile star trek is now getting a new trans character. lol
Go woke, go broke. The new SW trilogy was as woke as fuck. Star trek shows are now super woke as well. This series doesn't seem to have this woke crap - instead, it's focused on character development/plot progression. There's your answer.
Star Trek discovery defin went woke .. it was good and now this season ..it’s wtf
shareI'm almost afraid to ask... but what is Star Trek doing with the trans character?
STD was always woke and I refused to touch it with a ten foot pole, but I didn't know they were going extra woke. (Or are you talking about Picard, which has also reportedly been made woke?)
A non-binary actress playing non-binary character got mad when the gay character called her a "she". So after that the gay character spammed "they" on her till our collective brains melted.
shareWow... that sounds awful.
Thanks for the info.
I made the right life choice to avoid that show like the plague.
Because you've been fan serviced.
What cartoon version?
Because it's done well to the point where it feels original and fresh again. They also get you emotionally invested in the characters. The sequel trilogy started off fine with Force Awakens but Last Jedi and Rise Of Skywalker ruined everything that film was setting up.
share"it's done well". Oh OK then.
TLJ didn't ruin anything for me. Sorry.
I like Mandalorian as much as the ST. But it's embarrassing to watch people say. "I wonder if Bo Katan/Ahsoka/Boba Fett will appear" then one of them does "Oh this is amazing writing!"
And, "Oh look. A Dark Trooper which I have knowledge of from EU. Amazing writing"
I think some fans just need their belly rubbed and a pat on the head for knowing about star wars rather than a substantial story.
The episode with Ahsoka last week nice though it was, was completely superfluous.
Well, you could have summed up your post by saying "I like terrible things normal people despise" and left it at that.
And the entire saga with Ahsoka was to give Mando a reason to take Baby Yoda to that spirit rock on that forsaken planet.
J.J. Abrams wasn't involved?
