So this is a flop?

Only 60 million.

reply

Definitely a commercial disappointment. A woke disappointment, to boot. One of those movies the critics hail as the most "important" thing since the wheel, while the world collectively goes, "Meh".

It'll probably clean up at the Oscars, though. I miss the days when that show honoured films the public actually gave a shit about (i.e. back when people bothered to watch the ceremony).

YOU ARE MISSING A TIME THAT NEVER EXISTED. NOEMOJI

reply

Did ye, aye?

reply

Never existed?

What about Titanic, LOTR: Return of the King, Slumdog Millionaire, Chicago, Gladiator, etc.?

reply

He has a point, although a miniscule one. Although the Oscars had moments when they did value excellence they still had their political agenda - whatever that was at that time.

reply

ONLY THING "MINISCULE" IS YOUR INTELLECT...OH...AND ALSO YOUR DONG. NOEMOJI

reply

Damn, yo'mama left that mirror out again??

Shoo, shoo, go away from there.

reply

Agreed, for the most part.

reply

It’s doing fine.

reply

Not really. The film has to recoup its budget plus money spent on prints and ads.

reply

Yeah, some people just can't accept when a movie they like flops.

reply

The movie will finish with over $100 million worldwide, and close to $70 million domestically. It’s fine.

reply

Prints? You haven't been in a theater is the last 10 years, have you?

reply

Black celebrities are buying up all the seats in the theaters to try to boost its dismal performance, https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/black-celebs-buy-screenings-woman-195812630.html

reply

Pathetic zombies. Controlled by the Democratic regime that so proudly touted black slavery...

reply

The comments on there say it all. LMAOOOO 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I particularly like this one:

"So websites take down what they perceive as review bombing not being accurate to how audience really feel about movie. Wouldn't inflating numbers be the same thing as not accurately portraying how audience feel?"

reply

The old Liberal double standard comes into play again.

reply

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

reply

Yes. I see 83 million worldwide against a 50 million budget. I always hear the gross intake should double the budget for it to not lose money. And then anything over double is profit. So it needs to make a hundred million just to come out even. Flop.

reply

It all flops are bad films though.

reply

Come again??

reply

I’m sorry. I meant to say that all Box Office flops are not bad films.

reply

That pretty much goes without saying.

reply

The movie hasn’t been released in a number of territories yet.

reply

Oh, I'm sure that means something. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

reply

They both win best supporting g actress.

reply

It didn't get much of an international release, anyone know why? UK is biggest at $3.4m.

reply

Must not have been interested in the movie. It barely broke 60 million in the US and it's been out for weeks.

reply

Its a shame because even if you don't agree with the politics within the movie, its important citizens, especially younger audiences, learn about our past history

reply

Some have said that the movie isn't accurate. Maybe that is why people aren't seeing it.

reply

Of course African slavery was real

reply

It definitely was.

And a significant portion of it was perpetrated by the Dahomey, the very people this film portrays as anti-slavery freedom fighters.

reply

How so? I didn't see this movie but we all learned as early as in elementary school about the African Slave trade across the Atlantic when white American southerners invaded Africa and stole natives and sold them into slavery here in America

reply

I don't know much about it, but most movies take lots of liberties when it comes to accuracy. Some more than others, and I've heard some say that this movie is one that is not very historically accurate.

reply

Black / Negro films are only popular here in the US. The gangster rapper films of 90s that once were hot overseas are a thing of the past.
