Those movies were great escapism to allow men the catharsis of vicariously living out their fantasies through the heroism of the 80s/90s action heroes.
Today's feminist schlock is the complete opposite of that; a cache of subversion designed at no particular audience and used only to undermine male masculinity. The average woman does not want to be a gun-totting killer; the average woman couldn't care less about over-the-top martial arts escapism, and the average woman has no desire to be a testosterone-driven badarse. All of that is subversive feminist malarkey.
Yep, the biggest problem is the idiots in Hollywood have forgotten that their goal is to make movies that get the biggest audience which equates to success. But when they make movies that cater to the smaller niche audiences they are never successful. It is why black centric movies don't do as well as white ones. Whites are the largest part of the American audience and people tend to prefer watching characters they can relate to. So making a movie that focuses on a minority like blacks is never going to be a good move. Just like making movies with female action heroes isn't going to win you any huge audience figures. The only way doing it can work is when you get a female star with big titties that fulfills another part of the male fantasy like when Jolie was in Tomb Raider... but in this movie the woman had a boyish figure which isn't going to be the typical straight male fantasy woman at all.

Woke movies do more than just have a strong female character. They have a strong female character that generally is a mary sue, AND they have to present any male characters as weaker, if not completely weak.
Sarah Connor made Terminator Two. But not at the cost of undermining either the memory of Reese, or the future John Connor.
Even the actual John Connor, while still aN adolescent was shown as growing into his future leading role, and providing real support and even leadership to the small group.
Contrast that to later films, where he was just killed out of hand and the womyn, was doing it for themselves.

Even if we go back to the original Underworld or plenty of Michelle Yeoh flicks, they weren't aimed at undermining their male co-stars. Even in Cynthia Rothrock films she avoided having her male co-stars depicted as completely weak and emasculated.
These days it's the opposite, the men are weak and emasculated and the women are the Mary Sues doing everything a man does, like Rey in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, where Poe and Finn are her generally goofy sidekicks rather than her equals/betters. In fact, I don't think Finn did anything useful or heroic on his own throughout the entire sequel trilogy.
But not only that they also make sure that they portray these women as being just as masculine as men and even being lesbians, so they have no interest in men. It's literally like feminists are saying that women can't be strong, accomplished, and tough without literally being men in women's bodies. It really speaks volumes to how misogynistic feminists and their Leftist male allies really are.
The underworld movies are great examples of a strong main female character that does not need to have the male characters being weak around it.
Indeed, the bad guys, were presented as very strong and threatening opponents, which created real drama and challenge and the opportunity for growth for the character.
And thus were good and enjoyable flicks.
