...I don't know, I just can't see her ever being all that good at karate, especially one of the best. She's very un-intimidating. Doesn't seem overly athletic/fast, more of a girly-girl. Probably bakes a lot of cookies in real life. Certainly doesn't seem to have the personality of a killer or someone who's going to be overly aggressive against an opponent. I think she'd get dominated at the top level regardless of training. I think she's very pretty but just not an ass-kicker...was she miscast?

A lot of people don't know this, but the reason why she's overweight is because she has diabetes.

Type 2 Diabetes doesnt cause weight gain, weight gain caused Diabetes. If she stayed off the sweets and trained like her life depended on it, then she'd have zero issues.

I think originally before the show started filming she was originally just to be Miguel's love interest and Daniel's daughter and not a fighter.

I guess at some point they changed their minds, but didn't want to sack Mary & recast the role.
