Agreed the jet would be faster, but she wasn't injured when she flew solo.
She'd renounced her wish, and her injuries visibly healed while she was running down the street.
It's clear, though, that her flight isn't Superman-level speed. It looked very much like the "riding the air currents" gimmick she'd used to fly in the 1960's comics.
She does get injured as why in the movie you saw blood plus why she blocks bullets with the shield and bracelets. She would need a suit like Flash wears for a long distance flight unless she took the jet instead.
