Not sure how I feel about it, most of the Netflix movies I’ve seen have ranged from bad to descent(Mute, Bright, The Highwaymen, Da 5 Bloods)

reply

Everything I've seen ranged from bad to worse.

It's not been confirmed it's going on Netflix. If it does I'll be really disappointed. This must be seen on the big screen. I'd rather them delay till next year than release it on Netflix

reply

no trailer and 2 months away, bad news either way

I don't understand why people see the notion of it going to Netflix as a bad thing. Its clearly no reflection on the movie itself.

Cinemas are struggling badly, and some chains are shutting down. Its just not practical to apply social distancing to cinemagoers. Cinemas cannot survive on half empty houses.

Expect more high profile movies to go down the streaming route...its inevitable.

Comedies had a rough time in the theater in the best of seasons. Be a long time before one can return to the theater for a profit. I wonder though it this movie might not resonate as tone deaf with the current BLM social climate. Like, is it okay to laugh at black people anymore? Maybe for the best to drop it on a streaming service. It's not like Netflix doesn't pay out the ass to the studios for these things. It makes money. Look at all the dough they keep throwing at that silly Adam Sandler.

The problem is that if they release 'Coming 2 America' on Netflix they'll lose a lot of money. I can easily invite 10 people to my house to watch it lol. I agree that cinemas are struggling. But the question is: When will cinemas start functioning again? 6 months? A year? It's so frustrating

Amazon Prime now

that means it will suck BIG TIME

reply

The film is gonna be good. It's just not gonna be released on theatres as originally planned

reply

ok :( hope you are right

I read they sold it for 125 mill. Probably as much as they would have made in the theater after everybody got their cut of the pie. You know, if theaters were a thing anymore. Who knows when they will be. Very sound decision, financially. But it's certainly not the boost to Eddie's fame and career he was surely hoping for.
