These aliens survived the destruction of their homeworld, drifted through interstellar space for who knows how long (probably in a hibernation state), then went through an atmospheric entry and impact - the movie's creator said their armor is harder than diamond and they're nearly indestructible until they expose themselves. We saw how their claws sliced through a thick steel door like it was cardboard. Hard to see what kind of homemade trap would be able to hold one. And with the temperature extremes we know they can survive, flaming liquids wouldn't do much more than piss them off.
The effect they have on electrical equipment, causing slight power fluctuations, means they've probably got significant currents flowing somewhere inside them (i.e. it's an induction effect). High voltage electricity might hurt them, or it might do nothing. Strong magnetic fields might be effective. Or also do nothing.
Obviously the sonic weapon is the way to go. You use high frequency shriekers to make them uncover their vulnerable insides, a reflexive response to the pain, then put a bullet in their heads.
