How did this man get famous?

I saw his interview Trump last night?

His questions were all over the place, complete soft-ball.

reply

God knows.

I can't stand him.

Of course, it may be the fact that one had the unfortunateness of growing up with Johnny Carson.

Really it's true, I suspect others of my age group would feel the same way.

Carson was great, the best by far (IMO). Any other host is a step down - which is the unfortunate part.

reply

You're not the only one who can't stand him. You're in good company with Jerry Seinfeld: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2n_-Kbkak8M

They were watching Carson as kids? That must have been in the 60s cuz both of those guys are about 15 years older than me.

ANyway, Seinfeld goes on and on about Larry King. LK was all right. But he didn't have the comedic timing (or wit) of Johnny Carson. Thus, LK was a decent watch, but not as entertaining.

The face Seinfeld made at the mention of Joe Rogan - yeah, that's about right - I can relate.

He was a mediocre sitcom actor and later tv host who became insanely famous and rich from the podcasting gold rush of the late 2010s, where he played the part of a stoner asking smart people dumb questions, which attracted an audience of millions.

reply

I enjoy his podcasts but I don't agree with all of what he says.

reply

From what I've heard, his fame started with hosting the show "Fear Factor" in the early 2000s, and his radio show that he started a few years ago has gotten very popular with some people.

reply

Could ask that question of virtually any popular entertainer, and the answer is the same - people pay attention to them.

How did Kimmel or Colbert or Seth Myers become famous? Right place. Right time
