just go back to The Horror of 1984's Terminator

T2 was fun, But Terminator should have stayed horror
The Terminator Franchise should just branch off and become two things the big-budget action sci-fi and a cheaper darker horror franchise with like what a 20-30 million budget fix the broken time travel

reply

I have no idea why you would say that.
Both Terminator and Terminator 2 were great action sci-fi movies.
The rest of the movies were sniffing to make money off the franchise and were useless.
The Sarah Connor Chronicles was kind of entertaining but never went anywhere.

Funny the parallel between the Alien and Terminator movies.

T2 was my favorite, but re-watching The first Terminator I like it more and wish they kept the dark gritty horror instead of the R rated for Kids T2 was, darker horror would have been better than what T3 was

reply

I think what made the first two great was that they were the vision of one man, or a small group, whereas the other movie were put together by corporate committees trying to piece together images and memes they thought would appeal to the most people.

reply

they just want all the sequels to be as big as T2 was

reply

T2 is the formula, we can't change the formula

For many years I used to really like T2, but over the years I found myself favoring the first Terminator far more. The dark, gritty, cyberpunk feel and hopeless nature of the violence and encounters made it timeless for me. It wasn't about showcasing special effects or needless sub-plots. It was a very masculine, straight-forward horror-thriller with action thrown in, not unlike Escape From New York, the original Assault on Precinct 13, or The Thing.

T2 was great when I say it back in the 90s, and loved to re-watch it frequently, but these days the only film from the franchise I really have an urge to re-watch is the original. I feel, in some ways, it's a perfect film for what it was attempting to accomplish, and I immensely favor the dark, absorbing depiction of its ruthless world and uncompromising nature.

After T2 there was no natural way to progress the story or any hot demand for a sequel.

reply

Agreed. I was very alone in my dislike for T2 being such a commercialized, CGI driven "My pet Terminator" movie. I only like the first movie and "The Sarah Conner Chronicles."

I WOULD NOT ENJOY WATCHING TV WITH YOU VERY MUCH.🤨

reply

You probably like trash tv.

watch tv with whom?

Dark fate has proven we can never ever get out of Terminator 2, one of the worst things to come out of it is how done they story is after T2.

reply

Nice, a man of culture.
Another person who recognizes that the terminator franchise was irrevocably altered at T2. T2's a great movie, but at the end of the day, T1 was a more coherent, better constructed film. T2 was popcorn fare.
