When did movies go "Woke"?

Yeah TFA kind of did it without anyone realizing..

Mary Sue lead. Han as a toxic white straight old dude. Luke a recluse/hermit old white guy. (both fuck ups, both directly or indirectly helped cause Kylo Ren - the toxic white villain, head of the toxic white First Order). heroic black and hispanic/asian looking male leads (possibly gay)

It has been pervasive on TV shows for years as well. All of a sudden, every bad guy on a TV cop show is a white male. And it seems every single woman on a cop or action show is an EXPERT in martial arts and....at all of 110 lbs, can throw several male attackers around like rag dolls, while not sustaining a single blow.

I get it, filmmakers want to swing the pendulum the other way....(almost punitively, it would seem). But you can't slam it the other way this hard and this fast. It's the ANTITHESIS of "balance"....equality....or even reality.

In fact, if there were balance and equality, women would be getting thrown around and getting their asses kicked 50% of the time (vs. none, ever). Not that I want to see this...but the point remains. And frankly....if we were dealing in reality....if women were really getting into hand-to-hand combat with men as often we we see on TV shows.....they'd get their asses handed to them 98% of the time. (It seems TV producers want to show women in action and fights....they just don't ever want to depict a man winning a fight over a woman ....ever).

Again....I don't want to see that, at all. But you can't just show women throwing men around and kicking their asses constantly, with ease. It's beyond pandering....it's actually insulting to all involved.

I get it....the men who (as boys....loved every white male action movie in the 80's)....now have consciences (and daughters)....and they (and pressure from their wives)....want their daughters to watch TV shows and feel they can do everything a man can do...and be anything a man can be (a Navy Seal...a firefighter...a football player, etc...). However, you're also giving them false representations....you pussies.

The Alien reference is a tired crutch.
Nobody had a problem with Ripley as a strong, tough, smart lead who wins the day....because it wasn't pandering. She was simply the hero of a well-written story....and she happened to be female. I thought it was great.

The "wokeness".....is more about pandering, like re-booting old movies and replacing the white alpha male with a female.......or, like having a 100 lb. female throw several men twice her size around like ragdolls, never sustaining a single blow to herself. Like having white men always now depicted as weak or the villain (or both)......while depicting women and minorities only in heroic roles.

There's going to be a black Superman and a (rumored) a black 007.

Steel Magnolias was remade with an all black cast.

About Last Night was remade with an all black cast.

The Karate Kid was remade with a minority cast.

Ocean’s 8 was a spin-off of Ocean’s 11....with a minority and all female cast.

The Equalizer reboot changed the hero to female and minority. And yep, she routinely throws men around like ragdolls, never losing a fist fight.

MacGyver routinely has its two female stars (neither of whom are more than 120 lbs soaking wet) beating up several much larger (white) badguys, without sustaining a single blow themselves.
