How did they manage to shoehorn an aged Arnie into the story? (Spoilers, obviously)

Just curious. What did the writers come up with to have an (aged) Arnold present in the story?
Is he a T-800? Is he the SAME T-800 that perished in Judgement Day? They must have come up with something extra clever to explain his existence. What's the deal? Arnold's T-800 was vaporized in JD.

Major Spoilers. He is the terminator that kills John Conner and erases the whole sky net future. So he’s stuck in the past and he takes on a wife and has kid with her. He’s now a typical family man named Carl.

No I’m not kidding.

He shot robot cum in her? Wut? How did he procreate? Unless you mean he adopted a child.

reply

He refers to the kid as his son, unless I missed something. He did has a line about them not really being all that physical though.

reply

it's not his child of course, he just helped the woman raise her child.

yeah, this is the most absurd part of the movie: after he killed john, his mission was completed. so without having a mission anymore he got bored (of course! machines get bored if they don't have a task!). and out of boredom he got himself a new mission by protecting a random woman. and through living with this woman and helping her raise her child, he adopted human qualities and even a human sense of moral. so he felt pity for sarah, who's son had been killed by him. and that's why he decided to help sarah and inform her (via mysterious text messages) about other terminators arriving from the future, so sarah can hunt those terminators.

what i don't understand though, if skynet was prevented in t2, how can skynet still send back terminators from the future and whom are those terminators after? the movie contradicts itself, as it was said that skynet doesn't exist in the future - there's now something else called legion which sends the rev9, but no "skynet terminators" (t-800s or t-1000).

reply

Haha - don't try to understand the story, it was written by Cameron during the lunch break while making his avatar sequels.

Actually, I just looked at credits, apparently the script was penned by 8 people - so, no wonder it's such a clusterfuck.

Go watch the Sarah Connor Chronicles tv show.

There is a Terminator that gets involved with a woman.

Dark Fate isnt the first time
