Your thoughts on the movie? (SPOILERS)

SPOILERS probably...

I saw the movie today in IMAX 3D! I liked it but used a couple of the mass fight scenes to skip out for a quick bathroom break. I'm not a fan of the Fox X-Men universe and haven't seen all of the X-Men movies but still liked the cameos. We see that Logan and X-23 made it to Deadpool's universe, what about Blade, Elektra, and Gambit? I remember Blade getting stabbed but I don't think that he died, and I can't remember exactly what happened to the other two. Did they just get their ending? I guess this leaves things open for Marvel to do an "Old Man Logan" kind of thing with Hugh Jackman if he wants to play the part again. And Deadpool's universe (so presumably the X-Men movie universe) already had an Avengers team, that explains the Helicarrier in Deadpool 1!

reply

Blade's in this?

reply

Observe the SPOILER tag in the thread title, but yes and he's in it for a bit.

reply

Not sure what you mean re your spoiler tag, but who plays Blade? Is it archive footage from the Snipes movies?

reply

It's Wesley Snipes. And no it's not archive footage.

reply

Okay, thanks.

reply

No, it's Snipes reprising the role as the same but older Blade. And as far as the comment about the SPOILER tag goes, you just now spoiled yourself that Snipes is in the movie.

reply

Not a problem.

reply

It made for a really fun surprise, and hearing a packed theater gasp in unison when he walked in was worth the price of admission alone. And he isn't the only one. He's part of a quartet, each of whom is equally unexpected and perfectly handled.

reply

I can imagine! Did he look much different?

reply

He looked older, but he still looked like Blade. Chris Evans somehow looked younger. Maybe CGI? Most of the other guests stars looked their age.

reply

didn't sound like blade though - the voice....

reply

My girlfriend says she's a lady that deserves to be spoiled. I've been telling her the endings to all these goofy comic book films before we see them to stay true to her wishes.

reply

7/10

It was a really fun movie, but the story was weak imo which kept it from being great.

reply

As a movie it was OK, but it didn't live up to the hype imo

reply

We see that Logan and X-23 made it to Deadpool's universe, what about Blade, Elektra, and Gambit?

They would have been from an alternate timeline that got pruned.

I’m surprised we didn’t get a Loki cameo since the movie was basically Loki season 3.

reply

I was waiting for a LOki cameo the whole time and was surprised of all cameos it's the one we didn't get. If there was any part of the MCU it was really connected to, it was the Loki tv show.

reply

I was very curious if they were going to have him show up, especially with the promise of a scene of Deadpool and Thor together. I guess we'll have to wait for a future film to see how that plays out.

reply

Deadpool was more a final hooray for the FOX (pre MCU) Marvel Universe, most of the cameos are out of that Universe, the most major one was the crying Thor (which might be just an edit of an existing scene) . So even when I had not be surprised, if Loki had shown up, but I was also kind of not surprised, he didn't show up.

Spoilers

Stupid movie. Way too contrived and random. It's LITERALLY all the complaints about post- endgame movies, but if they were actually true.

Things that I particularly found stupid and contrived:
1)Why didn't the universe-ending machine have an easy off switch? You would think such a powerful device would have one...
2)The psychic girl didn't explain anything about who or why she is a thing. Just that she's randomly the strongest being in the MCU and a plot device.
3)What was the whole point of Deadpool fighting the other Deadpools? It was an obvious waste of time even if they pretend to be cheeky about it.
4)The soundtrack. It supposed to be a joke, but it was still really pretty bad in an eye-rolling way.
5)Why does using the world-ending machine kill you if fail the destroy the world? Is it not possible to just pull your arms out?

reply

It is make-belief. The reality in the movie is a bit far-fetched both physically and logically. It is called fiction.

reply

A world-ending device not having an off switch isn't "fiction". It's just bad writing.

reply

You misunderstand the movie. A comic book movie.

reply

If I built a doomsday machine, there would only be a single lever that sped up the end of the world no matter which way you pushed it.

reply

Is it true there's a scene where it shows The HULK reflected from Wolverine's Claws?? That's what MARVEL needs to make is a WOLVERINE vs HULK movie and do it with Edward Norton and NOT Mark Ruffalo who's version of Bruce Banner is the McDonalds Happy Meal version

reply

There is, and even more Hulk than that. Not much more, but he's not just a reflection. But does Captain America show up too???

reply

And I want an R-Rated HULK vs WOLVERINE movie like the Comic with DEADPOOL in it as a cameo pulling the strings and I want to see HULK rip Logan's legs off and throw his legs a mile away and we watch Logan drag his bloody 1/2 a body along to sniff out where his legs are to be reattached.. It's actually titled "ULTIMATE HULK VS WOLVERINE and it's a 6 part issue

A wild and crazy ride!!! I LOVED IT!!!

As a comic book nerd, I spotted about a thousand Easter eggs and probably missed a thousand more - loved it 8/10.
