He didn't just lose, he lost twice. The best they could give him was 'a round" in the second fight. And he didn't just lose twice, they went out of their way to make him look like a clown at various times throughout the movie.

Everyone was saying Kong had no chance before hand. He was already at a disadvantage because of the fact that he's not a nuclear-based nearly invulnerable creature. It's just what he is. He's not invulnerable like a lot of the Godzilla monsters. We all know that. You'd think given that, they would try a little harder to make it an even playing field, but they actually did the OPPOSITE. They made Kong look weaker multiple times throughout the movie.

Kong was sedated during their first fight. They stated this. You can actually see some kind of container/viles on the back of his collar before he rips it off, which implies he was still being drugged right up until the fight. It's not like someone gave him a needle and that was it. That's disadvantage #1. Then the fact that they made the fight over water is disadvantage #2. Godzilla being nearly invulnerable and having an advantage over water wasn't enough. Kong needed to be doped up too. Why they felt the need to make the smaller, weaker, less vulnerable of the 2 even more disadvantaged is beyond my comprehension.

Then when they go to Hollow Earth, Kong fights those dragon things. One of them wraps him up and appears to suffocate him with its wing. The humans have to help him out! What the actual fuck?! Why was this necessary?!

I thought the fights were really fun. They were well-done. But the longer the movie went on, there was stuff about it that didn't add up and this was one of them. They clowned Kong. They didn't overcompensate in attempt to make him on Godzilla's level, they did things to make him look WEAKER. I don't know what they were thinking with that.

Kong is a metaphor for American culture which has become a joke around the world. Biden will bring us back but it will take some time

The movie tries to make fans forget about Kong being beaten to death by Godzilla by having Kong beat Mechagodzilla later. It didn't work on me, though.

And then you complain that they didn't "try a little harder to make it an even playing field"???

As you (correctly) point out, in a straight-up match, Godzilla stomps Kong. Saying they should've crafted a story that somehow gives Kong an advantage is puzzling at best, and absurd on its face. The film wasn't flawed because they didn't do that. . .it's a reasonable story about what would happen if these two went head to head.

No. They didn't. Because THAT would've been weak storytelling.

Not sure what you don't understand. I laid it out very clear in my OP. And it's all based on things that happened in the movie.

They put the weaker one at a disadvantage - or made him look like a chump - MULTIPLE times. The 2nd fight wasn't a problem. Besides being entertaining, there was nothing done to make Kong - the weaker one - at even more of a disadvantage. It was a well-done and entertaining fight.

The same cannot be said of other encounters. Kong is already at a disadvantage because he's not (borderline) invulnerable and does not have an additional "weapon" (like lightning, fire breath, etc). But in fight numero uno, Godzilla is at an additional advantage for multiple reasons. 1. It's in the water. 2. Kong is doped up. It's like tying up David's arms vs. Goliath.

Then they make Kong need help from the humans against that dragon?! There's no reason for this whatsoever.

You think they disadvantaged Kong, when he was already going to get curbstomped, on paper. Got it.

Still not sure why you translate that to the filmmakers doing Kong a disservice. In your words, they "clowned" Kong. But I think you're ignoring an essential point, which fans of Kong can now forever hold up: What If They Hadn't???

Now, Kong fans can say "Well, he was doped up. . .that's why he lost the first fight!!!"

See how that works?

And on top of it they tried to sell us on this ridiculous, "Godzilla is not himself! It's not his fault!" Godzilla was running around destroying cities, killing people before Mechagodzilla even laid a finger on him.

Godzilla is considered a force of nature. If you provoke a wild animal and you got hurt you can't hardly blame the animal.

If you bath in blood and jump into the ocean then you can no longer blame the sharks. You can still say:"I did not attack the sharks so it is not my fault", but I don't think you will get a lot of sympathies.

Being stupid does not mean being blameless.

He gave Godzilla a good fight though, and he got lots of hits in. It's not like Godzilla had an easy time beating him

I think they did try, to give Kong the axe. Otherwise Kong would have been defenseless. Godzilla is amphibian, it always has an advantage in water or near water, also because it's powerful "laser breathe" (I don't know what else to call it), Godzilla can do long range attack, Kong could not.

I think Kong lost in the end is mainly because the axe is new to him and he did not utilize it well.

I'm pretty sure that's the official name. If it's not, it's at least the name that's gained widespread adoption in the fan community.
