"There hasn’t been a ghost sighting in 30 years"
Ahha. Burn. How to retcon the POS remake out of existence in one easy step.
shareAhha. Burn. How to retcon the POS remake out of existence in one easy step.
shareI admit I didn't like what I saw in the trailer. It seems the actual ghostbusters aren't main characters and the entire movie is just going to be these kids and their dad discovering the Ghostbusters' equipment and using it. I hope the original remaining 3 ghostbusters are in the next trailer.
shareProblem in using the original cast as the main characters is that Ramis is no longer around, the other guys are too old, a new installment to the franchise needed young blood and the filmmakers knew it.
shareThe remaining members should be in it. And they had even announced a while back that they would be in it. Frankly if Winston, Ray, and Peter aren't in it I have no interest in it.
shareTHEY ARE SAVING THEM ORIGINAL GANGSTAS FOR THE FLICK ITSELF...I LOVE THAT THEY LEAVE ALL THE CLASSIC ELEMENTS TO A MINIMUM FOR THE TRAILER.
shareWhat I was thinking. It'll probably blow us all out of the water once we see them on the big screen. No need to divulge too much info in the trailers.
shareYes, they're deliberately avoiding showing the original team in the teaser. All three surviving members, along with Sigourney Weaver, are in this film but we don't see a single scene with them. I hate it when the best one-liners and reveals are in the trailer and therefore already ruined before you even sit down to watch the movie. It seems like they're avoiding that mistake by showing only bits and pieces that give away as little as possible. Hopefully they'll stick with that approach and not put too much in subsequent trailers.
shareTotally agree, hope they don't show the originals in any of the coming trailers.
Whether you love or hate star wars force awakens the trailer spoiled one of the most anticipated scene by showing han solo and chewie enter the millennium falcon in the trailer - which just reduced the impact when watching it in the movie.
the odds are - it's going to be like luke in force awakening - 4 second cameo
shareI will bet the original cast is not the focus ...
shareI certainly hope not. Who wants to see two late-60-somethings and a 70-something tottering around in a movie like this?
shareWell Stallone still pulls off action movies at 73. Granted he's in way better shape.
Anyhow. Doesn't matter to me. Time passes long ago for a proper GB3. At least this will be a passing of the torch movie and maybe a fourth later ..
Yeah, sometimes retcons happen, just like the way "Superman Returns" retconned Supermans III and IV away.
In Japanese media franchises it happens all the time. The same in American comics. We just aren't that used to it with movies for some reason.
Superman Returns retconned nothing away except itself once you'd seen it
shareBecause retconning tends to destroy or fracture the setting. Its not a good practice.
shareThey said there hasn't been a ghost sighting in 30 years. Which is different than there hasn't been a POS sighting in 30 years.
shareNever saw GB2016. No desire.
But GB Afterlife looks interesting. Plus, the director made Up in the Air and Juno. He has talent. I liked the trailer, so I will await summer of 2020.
Top Gun and Ghostbusters! Nuff said!
You didn't miss a thing with Ghostbusters 2016. Swing and a miss. Lucky for me I waited to watch it at home, and never wasted my money in the theater.
People should definitely give this film a chance. It looks like they're avoiding those giveaways of the best parts. Like when the kids have gotten in way over their heads, and suddenly there they are - Egon's old friends come to the aid of his family. Audience cheers ... because this moment hasn't already been ruined in a trailer! The setup for the story looks like it has potential.
Afterlife is avoiding the mistakes of the 2016 trailer which kinda damaged the movie it showcasing too much of the goofy tone and was pretty misleading by having the tagline 30 years four scientists saved the world.
Having the old team turn up like in the final episodes of Extreme Ghostbusters.
