Alicia Vikander was so miscast - mid 20 year old 2nd in command of CIA??

the movie was enjoyable overall. too much trite 'technology' shots on screen along with outlandish timeframes of activating communications.

however, pretty much everytime Vikander was on screen I just thought that she gave me no feeling that she had the chops to be in the position that she had in the movie. And her line near the end about 'these are my people, i understand them' about adapting the CIA to the Millenials..... too precious.

could have used better editing.

Vincent Cassel was spot on like always.

She had to sleep with the Tommy Lee Jones character for that position.
That's believable.

The key players in this film are Bourne, Alicia, TLJ, Asset, and Nicky.
Since Nicky disappears after the first 30 min there had to be a woman in the film to balance out all the males! That's how Hollywood works! Having an older, stronger lead to replace TLJ would be too much like Pamela Landy's role again, so it made sense to make AV's character a female - unless, for a change, the mad asset was a female?!

I do agree she comes across as too young for the role; more of an analyst age/experience as Nicky was. Especially the gravitas required to bring in Bourne.

I will not fear. Fear is the mind-killer!

Ageism. They're getting rid of the older women and replacing the with young eye candy.

Hollywood also works by having a black in a positive role in every movie.

@wmlopez:
Yeah, I had that very thought running through my mind, but I omitted it since it didn't seem to apply to this film for 'every movie'!

Alicia looked like a 12 year old boy and spoke with a foreign accent. This was a role for a middle-aged American woman.

Agree completely about the casting of AV. She just wasn't credible – ludicrous to imagine that someone of that age, and presumably very little life experience, could function in a position like that! Would have preferred the other, older woman to have been the main female lead, if the film had to have one.

The best thing about the film was Matt Damon – excellent as ever.

Amy Acker, perhaps?

Definitely too young, agree.

She was good in Ex Machina, but that doesn't mean she should be cast in every movie.

shes like 19 in real life..still a freshman in college enjoing sorority life

Vikander is 27.

Tomato potato. She looks 16

Actually I read it was Julia stiles who was 19 in Identity and she was in the middle of uni when it was filmed. However, she exudes more intelligence and age in that role and was only in a junior position so she fit okay. It's the idea of a 20-something girl being SO high in the CIA that just seems unbelievable.

Agree on all counts

Why are you making *beep* up? She's 27

Her casting was really jarring to the rest of the movie. Yes, she is a beautiful woman, but she actually came across as way too shallow. Her accent was inconsistent, at times she sounded American, at times her European accent was incredibly strong. I don't know if that is her fault or the directors, but it is distracting. Her character is not well written either, but she does nothing to overcome those issues. I never felt any depth of emotion in her acting, just going through the paces. That technique translates well for the Android in ex machina, not for the ambitious agent she played here.
