Weekend 4 and plunging 56% again.

Looks like it's taking another 56% hit.

It just never stabilized.

850 million domestic now looks out of reach. Heading to a 815-25 domestic finish. Unbelievable for a film that opened with 357 million.

reply

I don't see your point. This is like being surprised that a pitcher who threw a perfect game with 22 strikeouts "only" strikes out 17 in his next start.

reply

It's having the worst % holds of any MCU film in history.

I think that's rather noteworthy.

It's 4th weekend is having a 56% drop after weekend 2 and 3's 58% and 57% drops. It's the ONE MCU film that NEVER STABILIZED. Each weekend has been another swan dive off an even lower cliff.

reply

It isn't noteworthy, and you know it. You're trolling again.

By definition, it has to have the numbers it has now. There are only so many people who are going to see a given movie, and when the majority of them see it during the first week, subsequent weeks will, by definition, be significantly lower. There aren't enough human beings in existence to have it any other way.

it would be noteworthy if the drops were in line with those of previous Marvel films. that would be incredibly surprising. What you are pointing out, and acting surprised about, is a totally expected occurrence.

reply

It clearly isn't getting the same number of repeat viewings that previous MCU films received from all those people that watched it week 1.

reply

That’s not a surprise after all if you include previews it’s a 3 1/2 our investment and as much as many people would like to see it again some people just don’t have time for that. I’m a good example of someone that wants to see it again but I’m just been very busy lately

reply

I'm in the same boat-- I am definitely going to see it again before it leaves theaters, but my schedule has precluded it. I'll finally have time next week.

reply

Don't talk to that guy about boats. Telmarines are afraid of the sea despite their name.

reply

That is pure guesswork on your part, right? How can you have even a remote idea of how many repeat viewings the film is getting? It seems far more likely to me that it is getting an identical amount of repeat viewings from the hardcore fanbase, but more people, fans and casual viewers alike, opted to see it in the first week.

The only thing we know for certain is that more people have already seen Endgame in 21 days than have seen any previous MCU film during the entirety of its run.

reply

I think it will do over 100m more. But I'm wondering about the overseas numbers, I think those are dropping even faster. Another 150m overseas looks like a tall order at this point. It should cross 2.6b this weekend, but it's running out of steam, and I don't see how it's going to get another 200m after it's 4th week.

reply

Agreed about worldwide but don't see another 100 million domestic after this weekend. I think about 50-60 million tops with all the competition coming.

reply

There is no precedent for a film opening anywhere close to $357 million, so to say that the domestic finish is unbelievable makes no sense. Endgame is blazing the trail for how a film of its magnitude should drop on consecutive weekends. What are you trying to suggest? That it’s doing bad? If I was a studio I’ll gladly trade a film with small holds with a frontloaded film that broke box office records and profit. Studios get a bigger cut of the profits on the first few weekends anyways so it’s actually better from a profit standpoint to be frontloaded box office wise then to be a slow burner.

reply

It's even worse...I had to make an edit. It's plunging another 56% this weekend instead of 54%.

That means every subsequent weekend since the OW has dropped over 55%. Those are awful holds.

Seriously:

Weekend 1 = 357 million
Weekend 4 = 27 million?????

reply

The reason for this us due to the fact a mass number saw it week one , you do realise it's made 2.5 billion, yet here you are gloating that its dropped alot in week 4 , pathetic.

reply

It made about 100 million more domestically on opening weekend than IW. That's supposed to still be the excuse for 3 consecutive weekends of super-steep drops?

reply

I really couldn't give a shit

reply

Obviously. Leave the box office discussion to the grown-ups.

reply

This is not a grown up discussion that you started, it's actually incredibly childish to treat it all like some competition between Warner brothers, Disney and Universal, you lose pretty much all the time

reply

This thread is billbrown bait. Its the same with every Queen thread.

reply

I know, just like to embarrass queen with each post

Obviously. Leave the box office discussion to the grown-ups.

^^^

this coming from a person who has proven to be the single worst Predictor of box office in Forums history...

A person that has MISSED by 50 to 80 Million + on films Opening Weekend 14 times in 2 years...

A Person that has been forced to Abandon,Hide and Run from over 20 boards in the last 2 years to escape Their fails and awful predictions

and a person who has Littered This Forum With HUNDREDS of Failed Predictions, where you are failing and coming in wrong on a consistent 90%+ basis resulting in something like over 300 Predictions across 30 or 40 boards in the spans of 2 years where at least 270 have been wrong

In the history of the internet, There may never have been a more delusional statement that you, Queen saying "Leave the box office discussion to the grown-ups."

reply

You know I was about to defend you despite your way off predictions about this movie and Captain Marvel because I felt that they were being too hard on you. But after seeing all of this I don’t think I will anymore. No wonder they don’t lay off of you. You are such an @$$

reply

At the end of the day who really gives a fuck? You're not seeing the money either way.

reply

Everyone is, of course, entitled to their opinions and how they view film. If it makes you happy to see a film drop in numbers week after week (which MOST films do!) then have at it! Then there are those who could care less about money figures, and go to see film for the pure enjoyment of it (like me).

reply

Disney is making boo-koo dinero ...highly successful movie makers.

This one is a 10/10 on the success scale financially.

Good for them!

reply

Everybody made sure to see this movie immediately. I do think it would have better legs if it was more action packed and had more bitchin' character moments. It might be a satisfying end to the saga, but it's not exactly a fun rip roaring ride of a film.
