Two more observations after seeing the movie again

In addition to my previous post I'm going to mention two more things that, at least, keep me thinking after watching the movie by 2nd time:
1) When Dr Strange appears at the end of the movie.. has he the Agamoto's eye??
2) Why Captain Marvel didn't put the gauntlet on her and did the finger' snap?? I mean, I don't realy need an asnwer here.. but I think this evidence the "plot holes" on the movie...

reply

1. Not sure, he only had about 2 minutes of screen time, and I don't remember saying anything either.
2. She could have, she also didn't have all the knowledge about the "snap" like Tony did.

reply

1.
I don't think so.

2.
Because she never has her hand on it? Are you talking about why Tonny didn't just give it to her? Well, there are a lot of plot holes in this movie, and forcing Captain Marvel into the movie is one of the reason.

I guess we could just argue that when Tonny finally has his hand on the stones he has only a very short time to decide what to do. Thanos is standing there in front of him, if he wants to give the stones to CM or Hulk, there is a chance that Thanos would stop him and just take it back. A weak argument, I know, but like I said, lots of plot holes.

reply

Those aren't plot holes. Captain Marvel's presence in the film doesn't create any plot holes or inconsistencies. Think it through-- the plan is to get the gauntlet to the van. If they accomplish that, then Thanos loses. He can no longer use the Infinity Stones to perform his snap. Only once the van has been destroyed does Iron Man have to resort to a last-ditch suicidal backup plan. As you even point out, he has no time to shepherd the gauntlet to anyone else. The Hulk is nowhere nearby, and likely too injured from his previous snap to be able to perform another. Captain Marvel may be able to do it, but she's been knocked out by Thanos' blow.

Moreover, Stark is WEARING the Infinity Stones. The only way to prevent Thanos from using them was to swipe them into his armor. He has literally seconds before he will be overwhelmed by the sheer power of the stones, and for him to try to locate a teammate strong enough to use the Stones, then pass the gauntlet to that teammate, with Thanos literally feet away would be folly. He had no choice but to use them.

reply

My point about CM was that she's just too strong, stronger than Thanos. Which of course make the whole premise a bit weak. The premise was supposed to be Thanos, the super strong villain, with his army is coming to kill everybody, and the superheroes have to find a way to defeat him and his army. But CM change the dynamic, shit, she even took down the mothership herself. The only thing she has to do when she came was just to went straight to Thanos and beat him to death, and the story would end.

She has no place in this story, so the writers have to find a way to fit her in, and they did it awkwardly.

"The only thing she has to do when she came was just to went straight to Thanos and beat him to death, and the story would end."

That's exactly what she was doing, until Thanos used the power stone in her face. She may be more powerful than Thanos, but not more powerful than Thanos with the infinity stones.

reply

No, she didn't, after she punches through the ship she flew around the field and helps spider-man with the gauntlet. And then only after Thanos got his hand on the gauntlet did she goes against him.

reply

Hey man! Thanks for bringing up your opinion about this. When you've a gap I would like you to take a look to my other post about Avengers EG. I would like to have your input on the Soul's gem question mainly: https://moviechat.org/tt4154796/Avengers-Endgame/5cc3e16931deb260c27b8764/Two-questions-and-two-suggestions

reply

Capt Marvel was slightly stronger than Thanos, and beating him, until he knocked her halfway to Arkansas with the power stone. No plot hole.

reply

It's a plot hole when CM make sure she didn't go after Thanos before he got his hand on the stones.

reply

1) No

2) The idea was to send the Gauntlet back in time using Scott's van. Using the gauntlet is dangerous and suicidal. Tony only did it after the van was destroyed and all the other heroes around him were KO'd.

reply

Plot holes...

In reality most people who mention them rarely go on to describe them in any detail.

And when they do, it's usually because they have not paid attention and missed something.

Or that they just disagree with something that happened and decide to class it as a plot hole.

Movies compress time, always have done. Not everything is spelled out or tied up neatly at the end.

Deal with it.

reply

Exactly. There was one guy on here who had a specific idea of how the Infinity Stones should work and called it a plothole because the screenwriters dared to not go with his ideas. The word almost has no meaning since it’s been misused so much.

reply

I still think Cap's ending is a plothole.

reply

1) he’s wearing a coat & black tie for Tony’s funeral

2) no one wanted to “snap” - they just wanted to return the stones to their respective times

The snap is destructive to whoever does it - no one wanted to do it

But when Strange locked eyes with Tony and held up one finger (still trembling from nerve damage), he told Tony it was now or never. There was no time left for any other course of action. So just like when he steered the nuke into the wormhole, Tony acted swiftly, decisively and without concern for his own life.

reply

heh I was just imagining, during the final battle the initial goal was to get the glove to the van so the stones could be replaced in time... when Captain Marvel was carrying the glove to the van, she could've put it on and wished "I want all the gems to be returned back to where they were taken from" *snap* -- if needed she could add something like "... based on Tony Stark's knowledge".

reply

The snap.

I wasn't thinking about that in the movie theater. I wasn't thinking....."Hawkeye, just 'snap' Thanos and army dead!!!....Hurry!!!"

"Spider-man, 'snap' Thanos and company away!!!"...etc.

I wasn't thinking about that each time a new super hero got hold of it and tried to get it away from Thanos and to the time machine van.

I was a little surprised when Tony did it.

Now looking back at the events, kind of realizing they could have just snapped Thanos away at any moment so long as they were willing to die to do it, it is more obvious to me that they had that option at any time but in the moment that hadn't really yet occurred to me so it is believable none of them were thinking that either in the heat of the moment with violence, fury and action everywhere around them.

reply

The more one thinks about this movie the more one realizes it kinda sucked ...lol

reply

Except a lot of these "plot holes" people are mentioning are just them not understanding things due to lack of observation or jumping to conclusions.

reply

No....dude there are a ton of paradoxes...

reply

Well whatever those are, these definitely aren't in that category.

reply

1. Don't see why that's an issue.
2. The real reason is Robert Downey Jr. wanted out of the MCU.

reply

1. He may have had the eye still, But that doesn't mean the time stone was in it. He gave up the stone, not the Eye of Agamoto.

2. The mission was to get it to the van and send it somewhere else. Then Thanos took it and downed Captain Marvel which meant dire action needed to be taken. Not only that, but I think the van got destroyed as well.

Lack of observation doesn't mean they're plot holes.
