It didn't especially bother me, but I feared my friend might groan since he'd spent the last half an hour before the film whining about Captain Marvel being 'anti-white men' (and no, before anyone says it, he's not an incel - in fact he has a very beautiful, successful and liberal wife, and a new-born baby).
Rolled my eyes and let them have their little “girl power” moment.

The more they do “unacceptable” things like this and it makes the neckbeard crowd cry, well the more they should do it! (Btw for as big of a voice as said crowd has on the internet, their views luckily don’t reflect the way the majority of movie goers feel.) Physically ill? State TV Fox News-loving reactionaries feel your pain, partner. Unfortunately for y’all, you’re going to continue to get sick because as much as the agenda you very likely approve of is being pushed by the current 1950’s administration and State TV Fox, clearly so many more support a different agenda - actual progress.

XD Kudos to Marvel, Disney (one of the biggest threats to reactionaries), the forward thinking filmmakers and actors, all the non-backward audiences that applauded when this epic Girl Power moment happened, and Marvel again for having cared about representation for decades.

Personally, I'm all for 'girl power' moments, if they're done well.
This shot wasn't done well. It was self-congratulatory and pandering, and an insult to women.
They weren't even lining up to combat a misogynist, which would have made sense. It was a fourth-wall breaking piece of bullshit. Not Thelma and Louise.
Really well said here and I agree. Would make sense going against a misogynist or something. But was pretty cringe/stupid otherwise.

It was stupid because these women didn't even know each other and there was a huge number of people there. So the filmmaker suddenly had the black women teaming up with alien women they didn't know existed. Somehow they all found each other instead of sticking with their teams.
It's obnoxious.
I liked the moment (and I'm a guy), but at the same time I noticed problems with it. Like you said, the women were all off with their teams. Look at Wasp, for example. I'm pretty sure she was off battling side-by-side with Ant-Man aka her boyfriend and partner. The two were kind of free to do whatever after they failed to get the van working and stuff since it got blown up. I figured they continued to fight side-by-side offscreen. So with that "girl-power" moment, you (the movie) are telling me that Wasp just randomly ditched Ant-Man (she was in the shot too, I think she was one of the last to join the group)? What if Ant-Man was normal size and was getting attacked by 2-3 "minions" and couldn't shrink or grow to to Giant-Man. And IF he was, then you are telling me that she just randomly said "screw you, save yourself" and ditched Ant-Man to go assist Captain Marvel? Pretty sure Mantis was with some of the other Guardians and fighting beside them. Also, I'm pretty sure that the women were scattered ALL OVER and some were on the other side of the battlefield. So they randomly teleported/"ran"/"flew" to the other side of the battlefield to assist Captain Marvel? Seeing all the women come together like that was pretty cool (and as I said I'm a guy/male viewer) and I would like to see an all-female team-up superhero movie (A-Force movie), but there was some issues that needed to be thought about before putting together this "girl power" moment. I know all the time traveling created plot holes, but so did this "girl power" moment if you think about stuff and break down the final battle fight like I did or even think of "what if's."

Based on the loud cheer, it looks like the directors managed to achieve what they set out to with this 5 second shot of girl power.
Sorry to hear this scene made you physically ill. Hope you did not ruin the movie for the people around you with your physical illness post this scene.
