To the Moviechat moderators.....

Posting a negative opinion about someone whether male/female is NOT a violation of your rules and it's not misogynistic.....that's a FACT. I can pull up your terms and conditions/standards and show you myself! Answer me this, would any of you care if I called a man a prick? How would that be any worse? Would that violate the rules as well? I've seen plenty of posts on this site bashing men without consequence and you do nothing about it.....what gives? This equality thing is a joke and hypocritical. You don't believe in "equality".....just biased opinions from a bunch of cry babies. All you're doing is compromising with a certain group that is easily offended over someone's opinion(not trolling, you never listed negative opinions of people male or female as one of your rules that could be violated) and it's wrong and unconstitutional. Calling out on someone has nothing to do with their gender, that's not what this is even about lol! Women are subjected to being criticized just like men are.....isn't that equality? No one deserves special treatment male or female.....period.

reply

They actually should leave the "cunt" posts. It makes people who were never fans and maybe didn't instinctively like her, feel like they should give her a chance.

reply

It's not gonna happen.....they're too scared. It's pathetic

reply

See my last reply to you. I think I agree. It should be different, if all things are equal.

reply

That's the thing.....they don't really believe in equality unless it fits in with a narrative for their own agenda otherwise you're crucified. It's a total joke! They just want to have it both ways(equality for them but not for you: the opposition) and that just isn't reality or how it really works. The door swings both ways but they don't want that.....there's only one way with these people which is a very hive like mentality and very dangerous.

reply

Oops, I meant "shouldn't be different". It also doesn't really make all that much sense that people use genitalia as insults, since we derive so much pleasure from them.

But then again we say a few things that don't make sense. Like "she eats like a bird". I've seen those things eat, which is pretty much all the time. 😂

reply

The moderator said one of them was enforcing rules, and that one of them found the c word offensive.

They invoke rules, and in the very next sentence they say it was a moderator's opinion. Do they think the OP would have made his post if he had known it was just going to get censored? I don't. It's extremely unfair to blame him instead of their own moderator. Their moderator clearly didn't even find the word offensive or else he would have censored the word "prick" as well and he didn't. It's just a political agenda. Can we say Brie Larson is a cocksucker?

reply

You do know you're in THEIR playground. They can do as they wish.

MAYBE, just a thought, we should refrain from just insulting people altogether? I know I'm as guilty of it as anyone else.

reply

To a point but not to the point it infringes on free speech and trying to silence someone over just an opinion, we don't live in a dictatorship either if you haven't noticed. According to the constitution they can't "do as they wish" with anyone.....where do you get that from? If someone was staying at your house, even though it's your playground, you don't exactly have the right to tell them what to say or what not to say, right? You don't force them to do things they don't want to do either? Everything has a red line. Also, this is a public website and forum.....it's not exactly private and only open to certain people. Silencing someone's opinion just because you don't agree with it is still one sided and fascist regardless if it's their "playground" or not....that doesn't mean shit. It's not like they know Larson personally or even care about her so why get so butthurt over some rich Hollywood snob who would talk shit about them behind their backs in a heart beat. Nobody owes this bitch anything!

reply

Apparently you weren't paying attention in school because the First Amendment has nothing to do with your free speech rights on a website. The moderators of this site can censor you as they wish. If you don't like it then you can go somewhere else.

reply

That's complete bullshit, show me where the First Amendment has nothing to do with a website or the internet or everyone is allowed to censor you on websites? According to who? Who made that rule? If you live in the US and are a citizen the Amendments apply to EVERYONE and everything here.....that's why we have civil rights to begin with, even criminals have them. You have an inherent right(constitutional or not) to express your opinion negative or positive in a public place.....WTF do you think the internet even is? Unless Moviechat was founded in a third world dictator country then maybe you'd have a point....but even then. Obviously you were the one who didn't pay attention in school or just brainwashed by liberal propaganda who don't want opposition to their beliefs.

reply

Maybe you should research what the First Amendment entails because you are making a fool of yourself. You do not have free speech rights on someone else's website. I would explain it to you but I feel I would just be wasting my time. Your lack of education is apparent.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution

Show me where in the First Amendment that protects your free speech rights on a movie website.

This article will explain to you where you are wrong. https://www.cnn.com/2017/04/27/politics/first-amendment-explainer-trnd/index.html

reply

It’s really very simple. You registered here. This is not a street corner. This is a site owned and run by others. You have one right here and that’s the right to leave.

To put it simply, there IS no free speech on the internet. Twitter can ban you, Facebook can ban you...you are using THEIR space to speak and if they don’t like what you say they can remove the words or remove your access.

reply

First amendment only protects you from government censorship. It does not protect you from consequence as Brie found out.

reply

You're wrong about a few things.

First, free speech. It isn't some blanket thing that means everyone has to allow everyone to say anything anywhere at any time. This website, like many, has rules about what is and is not allowed. This is a place to engage in a polite, friendly, discussion of films, and it is 100% within the rights of the site owners to erase content or ban people for not doing so.

Also-- why do you keep equating the words prick and cunt. The first is barely an insult, and it's a word that I wouldn't be surprised to hear spoken on, say, network TV. It may well be against the FCC rules to do so (not a violation of free speech, btw), but it doesn't carry anything near the level of crudeness as cunt.

That leads me to where you are most wrong-- you/your alter-ego weren't punished for using that word or for insulting a female actor. People insult male and female actors on this site all day every day and no posts are being removed. Your post was removed because you posted something that was very crude, very insulting, and not in any way about film. It was just an out-of-the-blue insult designed to upset some people and to encourage others to chime in with other childish, rude remarks. It was the definition of the term "trolling."

You are clearly happy with the person you are, and no advice from me, or a moderator, or anyone else is going to convince you to examine the way you treat others. You'll likely go the rest of your life unenlightened, rude, and confused, and that's your prerogative in a free country like the USA. You won't, however, get to spend the rest of your life saying whatever you want on someone else's website in violation of their terms, so either play nicely here or go create your own site and set your own terms.

reply

10/10

reply

Honestly I think it had more to do with the fact he put the word in the headline instead of just putting it in the body of the text. That means whoever visits the board will see it without clicking on that specific post.

reply

That’s not how free speech works at all. You can say what you want bar hate speech. But that doesn’t mean a business or private residence or the internet has to let you. You have the right to say what you want, they have the right to ban, remove or delete your comments. Free speech does not mean you can get away with saying whatever you want wherever you want and no one is able to stop you. Especially on the internet where shockingly so of the websites you use aren’t even located in your country.

reply

Moviechat has been a place with an unusual level of free speech. I hope it hasn't been infiltrated too :-(

reply

I think it has because obviously the mods are butthurt as well.....not a good sign.

reply

In the modern climate you can't state facts if they go against the narrative, you can't dissent with the socialist hive-mind and you can't judge people on what they say or do unless they are white straight males. And for God's sake don't even try to criticize or offend a woman. Don't you know that each one of them is perfect beyond perfection?

You speak ill of a fucking superhero movie or the airhead that plays he titular character and you immediately get under the very thin skin of zealots so unsure of themselves and their ideas that need the whole world to think the way they do.

At least watching the MCU fangirls loose their shit was mildly amusing.

It's a sad, sad society we live in.

reply

Yeah the mods just sent me a warning for " royally flaming" BrunoAnthony…..so I'm not allowed to verbally defend myself against trolls like him? I bet he's the one who reported it too lol. This site is a freakin' joke.

reply

You can't criticize their precious MCU, nor explain yourself.

I'm on IMDB v2.0. more as a lurker than anything else and it's the same thing. Never ever dare to raise even the slightest doubt about an MCU movie. They're going to cry and whine and pout and stomp their feet and, of course, they call you a troll or a Trump supporter, because that's what children do.

reply

LOL!

reply

People call Trump every name under the sun and say horrible things about him, but that's fine. Say something negative about Brie Larson and all the SJWs, feminists and white knights will kick up a stink, call it misogyny (oh brother) and complain till it's removed.

It's a fucking double standard and Brie Larson sucks.

reply

Fully agree! This site and "society" in general is corrupted.

reply

I read your 'BL is a c*nt' thread lol before it got erased and you were bang on. I knew it was going to get deleted since there were so many whining in the replies about how you were misogynistic, even though you were making a valid point. 3rd wave feminism is a cancer that needs to be eradicated.

reply

I'd say all the PC culture needs to be cleansed.

I did agree too with BladeRunner and he was right about true equality, but those people aro so insecure about their ideas that they need a safe space in which those are never challenged and they can jerk circle all day long. Basically they've been brainwashed into believing that they owe Disney, while it should be the other way round.

reply

There's no way you can all be this stupid. You can call Brie Larson a cunt. You just can't do it in a headline where people can visit the board and see it without clicking on it. The same goes for Trump. People on the Trump board don't call him a motherfucker or cocksucker in their headlines. Just leave that stuff for the body of posts and you're good. And of course don't direct it at other users of the site.

reply

Well said.

There's a way to criticise someone without being vile and referring to body parts.

No-one is preventing people from criticising Brie Larson, but there had to be standards, and words like the 'c word' are just plain midogynist. We wouldn't and shouldn't tolerate the n word for a criticism aimed at a POC, nor should we tolerate the c word.

reply

There's no double standard.

I suppose it's because you're so far to one side of the debate that you see it that way, but it goes both ways.

When someone insults President Trump, you and your crew get up in arms, kick up a stink, scream that they're SJWs or libtards or soy boys or whatever else, and complain to one another about how bad things have become. When someone insults someone on the other side, the far-out activists on that side raise a fuss, scream racism/sexism/whateverism.

To me, and I'd guess to most of us who aren't on the fringes, NEITHER is okay, and we are sick and saddened watching your sides constantly whining and complaining.

It isn't okay to express blind hatred towards Trump, or anyone else on the right, nor is it okay to express blind hatred towards anyone on the left. The poster calling Brie Larson names was just as small-minded and confused as any poster doing likewise towards the President.

reply

FilmBuff Blah, blah, blah....

reply

Mods on here pretty much suck at their jobs...one in particular has targeted me because of my politics. I'm sure I'll be suspended again just for posting this opinion.

reply

Maybe it's not your politics but the fact that you lob personal attacks against other posters which is clearly against the board rules. If you don't want to follow the rules, why not find a different place to post that doesn't demand you show common courtesy toward others?

reply

SamGerard Why can't the mods just quit being a bunch of sensitive pussies and quit enforcing childish rules because they don't want anyone's "feelings" to get hurt lol? This is ridiculous. Not even youtube does this! You can't enforce these bogus "rules" in the real world because if people are going to insult you in public then it's going to happen no matter what and there's nothing you can do about it. I feel like I'm in elementary school on this site lol.....it's just weird. Grow some fuckin' thick skin.

reply

You can't enforce these bogus "rules" in the real world because if people are going to insult you in public then it's going to happen no matter what and there's nothing you can do about it

Untrue. If you were in a restaurant or a store and you decided to start calling another customer names and berating them, you'd likely be asked to leave. The owner of the establishment would be within their rights to ask you to follow the rules or leave. The same is true when you are using someone else's online community; if following the rules is too much of a burden for you, go somewhere else. If you can't make your argument without calling someone a name, your argument can't have much merit to it.

reply

Calling someone a "name" isn't the point here....geez you don't get it lol. No, not untrue at all......also I'm not talking about restaurants or establishments here. If I walked down the street and called one of the mods here a "dipshit cocksmoker" in real life(not the net) there's not a damn thing they could do about it except get mad and lash out....they can't censor me in reality. Even some restaurants and "establishments" could careless what you say as long as you're not hurting business.....what world do you live in? I see people start arguments at Walmart and other mainstream shitholes and the managers/employees do nothing about it. FYI I can make plenty of arguments without name calling but where's the fun in that? Calling out douchebags for what they really are is part of the charm....don't be such a square. You people need to get off the soy and LIVE A LITTLE!

reply

Actually you don't get it..this isn't a public street. This is a message board owned and operated by someone who is not yourself and much like the owner of a restaurant or establishment, they can set their own rules. Yes you are free to walk down the street bitching and moaning about the moderators, but of course you won't reach the audience you want. The owners of this site are under zero obligation to you to give you that forum, unsure why you think they should be.

reply

Yeah whatever. It's still a public forum and not a private site with certain members only. Keep telling yourself what you wanna hear...it's no skin off my ass.

reply

Its NOT public. If it were public, you wouldn't have had to sign up and click to agree on moviechats terms of service before posting.

If it were public, there would be no sign up, just go right ahead and post what you like.

This is the very definition of PRIVATE site, it has its own rules and procedures and you're required to abide by them.

Makes NO odds to the mods or anyone on here really, if you continue on this frankly ludicrous direction, you will eventually just be removed, because they don't have to tolerate you on their PRIVATE site.

The fact that YOU can't articulate yourself better is more a reflection on you than it is the mods, the fact that they and largely everyone else thinks you went too far suggests you're in a minority and you're wrong.

You could choose to pull up your big boy pants and just get on with it, or you could continue having that tantrum on the floor of aisle 9.

Grow the fuck up dude.

reply

It sounds so simple when you say it...why is it so hard for some people to grasp?

reply

Dude, there's not that many places like this to begin with.....where else can they go to post and speak their minds without pansy, nanny state censorship?

reply

Dude, there's not that many places like this to begin with.....where else can they go to post and speak their minds without pansy, nanny state censorship

The lack of other places for you to call people names is not the problem of the owner of this site or the moderators is it? If that's really so important to you, start your own message board, pay for bandwidth, garner interest and sign up members. Problem solved. Again, the owners of this site can set whatever rules they choose and if following those rules is too difficult for you, leave.

reply

SamGerard Yeah, excuses excuses.....making another site is not the point here lol. I don't have time for that shit nor am I interested in running a stupid website....why should I? The people who run this shit show shouldn't be that butt hurt in the first place.....that's the point. I don't care if it's their site or not.....so what? They also live in a free country(at least it's supposed to be or they live in North Korea lol) and have to abide by that as well. Rules also have a red line and a limit as well, you can't just silence people for giving an opinion no matter where you are.....where did you learn your values from? You sound like a fascist to me.

reply

SamGerard Yeah, excuses excuses.....making another site is not the point here lol. I don't have time for that shit nor am I interested in running a stupid website....why should I?

Hey you're not willing to invest the time and money yourself, I get it. Neither am I. The difference is I'm not going to complain because the people who did invest the time and money set rules I don't like. It's their right.

I learned my values from my parents who taught me that when you're in someone else's house or place of business you either respect their rules or leave. The fact that you think that's fascist shows how little an understanding you have of freedom of speech.

reply

Ok buddy, this isn't someone's house lol. It's still a public website and forum, you're comparing apples and oranges. If this was a private site with only select members(like a domestic home) you might have a point....but it's not. It's not any different than Youtube or IMDB and I don't remember them pulling this kind of political bullshit. You act like MC is some secret society LOL...get a grip. MC just hates differing political/social opinions and opposition....simple as that. "shows how little an understanding you have of blah blah blah".....freedom of speech is freedom of speech...PERIOD. What's there not to understand? Debating me on this is pointless, you're going to lose....so just let it go already lol. You're not the first soy boy I've dealt with nor the last!

reply

Really? Youtube pulls down conservative channels all the time.

reply

Yeah but they don't try to ban you for "flaming" other users or talking shit about a celebrity.....they never do shit about that! I've never had a YouTube mod warn me not to say "this" and "that" like these fucks just did a few days ago. You're right about the channels, they are horrible about that but I never see them harass commenters even if they're reported.....just people making objective content. I never said YouTube is innocent but they're not nearly as strict as this site.

reply

IMDB did away with their message boards because of the lack of civility people showed toward each other.

Nope, I'm comparing apples to apples. This is a privately owned site that's open to all from the public providing they follow the agreed upon terms (remember signing up and agreeing to terms and conditions)?

Again your post shows what a poor understanding you have of freedom of speech. If you are an American you have freedom of speech. The bill of rights guarantees us freedom of speech regarding government oppression; it does not mean any workplace, business, or privately owned message board has to tolerate everything you want to say. Perhaps take a look at what happens to people in other countries when they speak poorly about the government or religion and maybe then you'll appreciate how much freedom of speech you actually enjoy.

reply

Ironically, the posts that make fun of Trumps skin color are never deleted. It just all depends on the person. Some find it offensive and some don't.
