Han Solo was always a lame character anyway.

Never liked him and I love an nonsensical Star Wars film where all the awesome characters from the Prequels kill this lame excuse of a character.

Same thing with Luke Skywalker. I'm glad two of the most overrated characters in film are dead and we has movie going audiences never have to deal with these losers again. Now if only these horrible Disney films would die, than this mostly shitty franchise will be dead for good and all we will have left is the awesome Prequels which enough to keep me happy and not the gay ass movies like OT and the Disney films.

Piss off, you fruitcake!

the prequels are just awful, name me a character more Iconic than Harrison Fords Han Solo? I do hope this post is for attention.

reply

Obi Wan. 100%. Even though I love both trilogies.

reply

Prequel obi wan? No chance, OT Han was everyone's favourite character

reply

No, Han is a lowlife with a boring origin story.

reply

He was excellent in the OT

reply

Certainly. But Solo is canon so there you go. First they killed Indy, now Han.

reply

Adult-Diaper-Hans in Force Awakens is much worse than Soylo from A Soy Wars Story.
I can live with seeing him soyed, but not running around soiling his diapers.

reply

Yes Prequel Obi Wan. And my fav character from the OT is by far Darth Vader.

reply

Totally agree that Han is awesome! Prequel Obi-Wan is pretty good. Maybe he's not quite as good as Han, but Ewan McGregor did an awesome job! I'd love to see an Obi-Wan movie.

reply

I love Han Solo, but he is. Even Ford talked in interviews about what a boring character he is. He's very one note, one dimensional. He's exactly what the OT required. A Jack of All Trades to facilitate the moving of the story along. How do we get out of this? Han saves them. How do we resolve this? Here comes Han. How do we get in here? Han will get it done. Why are we doing this? Gotta go get Han. He's less a character and more a plot device.

reply

I disagree.

It's true that in the original trilogy he's some kind of generic "thug with good heart" archetype. But that's normal: Luke is the real main character (Obi Wan, Darth Vader, Leia, Han, R2D2, the force... he's the center of the story). Han is a very charismatic sidekick, but a sidekick nonetheless in a bloody adventures movie. It's a character who shall be drawn with a thick line.

Now, you make a movie about him, that's the moment to make him not only charismatic, but interesting. And that's the job of the new writers. If they fail, well, is it the character the one to blame?

reply

None of the characters in the original trilogy were written with any depth or much in the way of believability, yet somehow they worked. They weren't so much real people as the people we wished were (or are), and Han in particular was the kind of badass people who aspire to be badasses want to be!

Really, Harrison Ford is an actor with extremely limited talents, to put it politely, yet that was the one time he got it absolutely 100% right. At least for the first two films, you could tell he was terribly bored with the character in "Jedi".

reply

Lame trolling!

reply

Yeah he was only worthy enough to have a standalone film greenlit about him ...

reply

Which completely tanked at the box office and is hated by every real Star Wars fan in existence.

reply

I loved Solo....and it didn't tank. It just didn't make expectations.

reply

? It tanked!

reply

The reason why it tanked and is hated isn't because of the Solo character.

reply

I'll admit I was super worried that it was going to be terrible - but it wasn't really terrible, it was just kinda boring and 'meh'.

Kind of amazing how you could make a Han Solo movie boring...

reply

and whats a real star wars fan in your eyes ? someone that likes the prequels but hates everything else even the Original Trilogy ?

reply

FuriousStyles, why can't a "real" Star Wars fan like the Prequels in addition to the OT? I like Episodes 1-6 and Rogue One, and that's about it.

Read my post again

reply

Which post?

reply

and whats a real star wars fan in your eyes ? someone that likes the prequels but hates everything else even the Original Trilogy ?

reply

Hey, I love the OT, but I also like the PT, which I'm not going to write off just like that. TFA and TLJ, on the other hand...

reply

thats cool , i was just saying to the OP what he deems to be a real star wars fan , i love the OT, not a fan of the PT, liked RO and TFA, hated TLJ and Solo was ok

reply

So that's settled then: everybody hates the "Solo" movie.

reply

It was meh, not bad not great

reply

No. Many of us really liked it!

Out of curiosity, have you seen the movie?

reply

Yes, regrettably so.

reply

Well, that's the way it goes. Some movies, you're just not going to like as much. Doesn't mean everyone "hates the 'Solo' movie."
