Around 20 minutes in, Hound Dog by Big Mama Thornton inexplicably morphs into a rap version. Gotta dumb down music history for today's dumb audience, you see.

That's Baz's style, he incorporates both old and new music and remixes it into his films. That rap part was just background musical score so it was ok and actually very tame for Baz.

shareHe isn't. He's very unique and an underappreciated genius imo. He has a background in musical theatre and grew up in a ballroom dancing family. His films like Strictly Ballroom and Romeo + Juliet are both refreshing and a classic (my favorites before Elvis), many consider Moulin Rouge his best film, but imo Elvis tops them all!
shareIt was bad before that but the rap songs are just disconcerting and a cheap play to younger audiences.

Thankfully the music didn't last long and I don't think it was played again after that, so I wouldn't recommend shutting it off just because of that.
They have to put rap in everything.
Even a film the takes place in the 50’s …ugh….big ugh…
