That DLC from the game didn't need to be an entire episode

It was boring to play in the game and it was even more boring watching it for an hour recreated in live action. Cause holy shit talk about nothing happening, watching two girls parade around a mall for an hour straight with nothing happening. I was dreading from the moment i saw the shot in the trailer of Ellie and Riley in the photo booth that they'd make that an entire episode, and sure enough they did....

They could've seriously summed this up in 15 to 20 minutes and we'd get the point. I can't imagine anyone liking this episode at all and probably turning people away from the show.

It was just a god awful filler episode in the worst way, you can cut 99% of this episode out and just watch her stitch Joel up and not miss a thing.

Same shit they did with the Bill and Frank episode, taking two characters from the game and painfully stretching a backstory episode out for nearly an hour that could be skipped over completely.

It’s actually surprising how mediocre this show is, I can’t believe how hyped it was

reply

Yes this was painfully bad. Maybe it worked in the game I don't know but it sure didn't work as a show.
And then the swearing and to be honest not very likeable characters...awful

reply

Well, that could mean you are too young or underdeveloped to appreciate character focused stories. Guess you don't like the very good movie Winter's Bone too. Btw the DLC, for a chance, was a positive surprise and a different experience from the main game.

reply

Lol yeah if someone didn't like this episode it means they're too young or underdeveloped to understand it? ok buddy, then like 95% of the people who watched are as well cause no one liked it.

I love character focused stories as much as anyone, i loved The Whale, where the entire movie is an overweight guy in his house trying to reconnect with his estranged daughter before he dies. I like character driven stories, when they're good, and this one wasn't and didn't need to be an entire episode where the entire plot of the show came to a halt, plain and simple.

It was very well written and acted, but missed for me. It was chiefly an anthological style bottle episode with two characters who will now have no further role in the universe.

I completely agree. I remember back in the day I stopped watching "Lost" (first season) because of got tired of their habit to take half an episode to show a character's backstory.

Now "The Last of Us" does complete episodes of this? I feel like they wasted my time.

Shit.. at the end of episode 6 they almost should have displayed a "Come back in 2 weeks for the actual plot follow up !"

Instead of watching The Last of Us this weekend, I showed my fiance the Netflix show "Wednesday" and we were way more entertained.

I havent completely given up yet, but The Last of Us isnt living up to the hype we had for it. Knowing this episode would probably be a filler episode (like Bills Town) I wanted to wait until there was more episodes for us to watch so we wouldnt feel so down about it.

Even when it isn't filler, what's being presented is painfully mediocre compared to the game. So many lost opportunities. Such shit.
