Moana or Merida (Brave)

.... ok, i cannot decide. When Brave came out. She's my favorite Disney Princess among the past princesses. Now Moana came out, cant help to fall in love with Moana too. Both are strong, skilled and adventurous girls. I am so torn between which I like.waaaaah

Anyway, the reason why i love both of these films is that, it showcases culture and they're strong characters. I think that's important. Love them!!

Moana if only because her story isn't tied at all to her needing to be married.

Moana to me is what Brave should have been.

That's exactly what I said to myself after seeing Moana for the second time. Not a fan of Merida or Brave at all.

These are both my favourite movies too. I have had the songs from Moana stuck in my head since I saw it a couple days ago. I am Scottish/Irish so I loved the connection to my culture being showcased in Brave. I also have always had a deep love for the Polynesian cultures (I think it is in part because they, like in Scottish and Irish culture have deep connections to ancestors and cultural lore) so I was really excited for this movie, and it brought me back 100% to all my time in the islands.

I have decided that Merida and Moana are different personalities enough that I don't have to pick! In real like I am 100% Merida personality wise. So much so that ever since the movie came out people have called me Merida (even the red hair). My daughter, on the other hand, is 100% Moana. When watching the parts with Toddler Moana it was like watching my daughter, even down to the shell hoarding. So for me, I realised that they can both be my favourite.

Moana. Merida is easily my least favourite protagonist Pixar has ever done.

reply

Moana, easily. 

reply

Moana. I can't stand Merida.

reply

Moana easily.

Merida's storyline is majorly based on a huge screwup that turned her mother almost permanently into a bear. Moana's journey was a selfless act of helping her people.

I haven't seen Moana yet, but I can already tell that she's much, MUCH more likable than Princess Meriwhiny.

LOL, says the one who gave Moana a 2 and Splash, Too a 10. And it's not hard to dislike Merida; she's not exactly someone who's easy to root for.

You have a study to back that up, Sparky? Or are you just insulting people because you can't handle it when others are of a different opinion than you?

reply

Moana all the way. Besides that, she looks exactly like an ex-girlfriend of mine from who I can only say good things. Meridais just a selfish teenager and incredibly ugly...

reply

Moana. It's not ever close. Merida is one of the most unlikeable Disney characters ever created.

Not to mention both Merida and Moana don't have love interests.

I appreciated the movie Brave and its interesting voice cast and their characters, but if only Pixar didn't make it feel rushed. It could've expanded more by exploring further on the forgotten kingdom Queen Elinor spoke of. Almost felt like they were rushing on resolving the queen's bear transformation right away.
