The swearing is incredibly unnecessary

With Amazon they had more free reign to do what they wanted. The longer runtimes are always welcome, but my word the swearing is completely out of place.

I guess the writers and producers wanted it to be more edgy. In my view, it fails miserably in that regard.

There was more swearing in the books, and they weren't able to include that when the show was on SyFy. Some fans complained that there wasn't enough swearing. My guess is that once they moved to Amazon, they took advantage of the loosened restrictions.

Thanks for the explanation. Never having read the books, I never knew that.

I don’t really care for the swearing myself, but it’s too late for me. I’m hooked on the story.

I only find it an issue with Avasarala. She swears like a trooper, but it never feels natural to me.

reply

Yeah. Indians are conservative, feels very out of character to me.

reply

Not a fan. It wasn't Deadwood level stumbling dialog. But it was edging close.

Neah, in that environment it's almost impossible to not do it and stay sane ...

I noticed that too in this season. It's not that the swearing itself was out of place, it was the amount of it.

Way too many fucking people were fucking saying fuck all the time. After a certain amount of fucks, they start to sound like teenagers who just discovered naughty words.

Reminds me of all the nudity in GOT. If it works for the character fine but often they use it just as you said, to be edgy or shocking.
