This is good horror?

COnjuring 2 is without a doubt the most overrated movie I've ever come across on IMDB. I expected to see a <4 star and was astonished to see a 7.7 instead. I don't how people can watch this movie and not find it annoyingly stupid. There's really not even a story; just a ghost who used to live in the house and does a bunch of random stuff (like pushing a toy car haha) for no apparent reason.

I didn't care for the first one at all. Not because it was badly made (though I am really tired of the *squeeeeee* jumpscare. What really bugged me was the overt Christian nonsense and elevating the Warrens to something more than the scam artists they always were.
The only reason I watched the sequel is because it's based on the same 'true story' that inspired Ghostwatch... which I DO think is scary, or maybe better described as creepy. It certainly pays to watch/listen to that one closely. Conjuring 2, not so much. Anything scary is front and center and accompanied by musical queues... there is no subtlety to it at all. It has no depth and its ghost is just some cranky old white guy (and Marilyn Manson lurking around in a nun's habit). That might scare folks who never watch much horror... but around here it's just lame.

Totally agree with you OP, James Wan is mediocre, sure Saw is a really good thriller movie and so is Death Sentence with Kevin Bacon but the rest he have done is the work of real mediocricy...sure first Conjuring is ok but everything else he have done is just laughable bad...I dont have high hopes for Aquaman...
