What is love to an atheist?

I watched the movie today and it got me thinking a lot. The idea of having nothing after dead and no God gets me to think of something.

I googled my question to google and I came up with this. http://www.strangenotions.com/atheists-love/

I'd like to hear your opinions on this. My intentions are not to offend atheists. I just want to understand how it works.

By the way, Stephen Hawking is a perfect example of the 'problem of evil' - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Problem_of_evil - a common hypothesis to why there is no God, I believe.

To ask this question proves to me that you have never been in love, not really in love, where the person you love is more important than anything in your life, where you are not whole when apart, when a smile from your loved one makes your day, where you feel pain if your loved one hurts, when you can't imagine life without your loved one and if you had your life over again you wouldn't change a thing because you might not be lucky enough to find the love of your life. ........ I've been married 46 years to the love of my life and I love her just as much as I ever did, if not more. I am an atheist.

Even if there was a personal God why on earth would he "make you think of something" or make you feel anything? In what way could he do that, would he possess you? Speak to your mind maybe? That is incompatible with the JudeoChristian concept of free will. If you base your morality on what you think is good and evil, rather than comply to the JudeoChristian reward vs punishment fake morality (help others to add +1 to your heaven score, not because you really want to, and avoid harming them to avoid going to hell, not because you feel it's bad) why on earth would you depend love or any of your feelings on God or whoever else?

Fanboy : a person who does not think while watching.

You have to be joking? No Gods, no love?
Love is a human emotion, same as fear. Nothing to do with gods.

Not believing in the boggie man doesn't mean you don't love.

*beep* just because someone has the opinion that there is no god does not mean they dont't believe that humans have souls!

The same as love to a religious individual?

I seriously can't believe someone in the 21st century is asking this stupid stupid, stupid question.

This question is totally wrong! It creates a strong bias towards X and Y. It creates hatred and more importantly, it destroys "love"!

"Prejudice" is the real danger here!

----------------------------------------
Atheists can love without believing god!

Religious people can love without expecting any prize!
----------------------------------------

There are lots of answers that "blame" A and B because of C and D!

All right, how well do we know each other?

Do we really "have" love?
Do we know how to use "love."?
Do we know what it "really means"?

Why do we need "love" if we don't respect each other?
