Oh boy. More jump scares and allegorries about trauma
Yawn
shareAnyone who complains about jump scares is a pussycat. I'm serious.
Oh no a jump scare somebody call the cops! Did you wet yourself watching the first? Ha!
It's an easy way to scare people. That's why people complain about it. It wasn't actually the movie that was scary. It was just a loud noise that was scary. Being startled by loud noises happens in everyday life. So, it's a cheap way for a movie to get a cheap scare. If the movie was actually scary, then a jump scare wouldn't be needed. So, I get where the original poster is coming from. I
shareI'm fine with jumpscares if they're used as a device to pre-unsettle the watcher ready for some big payoff, but I don't like movies (of which there are far too many) that rely on them as the main source of 'fear'. I've watched plenty of ultra-low budget crap where the 'director' obviously thought 'Hey, this scaring people is easy! Just stick in a sudden movement and accompany it with a really loud bang or chord on reverb'.
shareNot an allegory.
A few cheap jump scares yes.
But no allegory. There was no hidden meaning in the subtext. It was all on the screen.
