Is Creepy That Kate Winslet Kissed Liam Hemsworth?

Kate Winslet is too old for Liam Hemsworth because Kate is older 15 years than Liam.

Kate is 40 years old. Liam is 25 years old. Their age gap is 15 years.

Why both actors were chosen for this movie? Cannot they find someone who can close to Kate's age for this movie? Or they just follow the book what it shows the indentification of the characters' ages.

She's actually more 14 years older then Liam instead of 15, I think people just round up the ages.

Kate looks young compared to her real age, so it didn't jump out to me. It's not like she's 39 or 40 but looks like a 60 year old hag or something like that.

In the film they looked close enough in age and I just didn't think at all about the age difference of the actors. Like Joel_S said, she was not a 60 year old hag. That's what I thought also, she had no visible wrinkles, stringy neck, wizened arms, fallen cheeks. Unfortunately, when people get older, they show visible signs of their age. I'm over 70 and I would think it creepy to kiss a younger man (or actually an older man, too ๐Ÿ˜ฐ๎€˜๎€Š๐Ÿจ

I certainly hope I would not be called a hag just because I'm old ๐Ÿ˜ก

Not creepy. The beard made him look his age, though he generally looks younger. Kate looked hers too. In terms of movie continuity it's inaccurate, but they're both grown adults, so it's not weird. It would be a departure from the movie, but I wouldn't mind the age diff it were acknowledged, like if he were SUPPOSED to be younger and took to her because he wasn't born when she went away and didn't have those strong feelings or prejudices, or he was in on the secret of her innocence from the beginning because of his brother.

Just curious if you also go on movie threads commenting on the ABSURD amount of men 20-30 years older than the female lead. No problem with that, huh? I certainly had NO problems with Kate kissing Liam and I'm older than Kate. It was lovely.

I agree, some people just have such double standards, it's so silly...

In WWI and WWII a lot of countries had massive losses of men leaving the women of that country with a big shortage of eligible men to marry. They were left with trying to find older or younger men or sharing a man.

1951 would be 6 years after the end of WWII and the middle of the Korean War where Australia also served. Later they fought in Vietnam alongside of America.

Not strange at all. It's perfectly acceptable to date someone 20 years younger than you, whether you are male or female. Age is just a number.

Once you are 18 you are an adult and able to make your own decisions. We let people volunteer for war at age 18, but they aren't adult enough to choose their own mate? Nonsense.
